While touring the Garden Grounds, a passerby may tilt their head in Vissna's direction and ask, "Who's that? What is she doing?" Vissna will usually refuse to answer for herself, and instead, another will explain. Vissna's job can be considered odd compared to others. She cares for the dead, wilted, and withered-- the parts of the garden no one else seems to consider. At times, Vis can nurse the flora back to life, but at times, she cannot. And yet she still holds onto these crumbling, drooping symbols of death, insisting upon giving them a new use. Sometimes she dries them, presses them, or grinds them into useful pastes, or perhaps uses them for compost. Either way, she makes sure nothing goes to waste. Though they are very obviously a lonely, mournful dragon, Vissna is more dependable than most. They won't hesitate to lend an ear and/or offer comfort, even at their own expense. Most of Vissna's own struggles are left unsaid. There are rumors that Vissna came from an abandoned town that was, long ago, full of life. At any mention of this, though, Vis responds with a bittersweet smile and a glimmer of tears. "I tried," she may say. "I love, but I always lose." She is so hurt, but she is so good. |
