Kakuzu was an elite ninja of Takigakure. When a mission failed due to a stronger opponent, Kakuzu – although not at fault – was punished for the failure. This resulted in Kakuzu's growing hatred for his village, him stealing the village's forbidden techniques, killing the elders and stealing their hearts before fleeing.
He used the hearts as part of his own body. They hid in masks which could be used to attack with the elements of their previous owners, elements that Kakuzu could not have mastered otherwise. The hearts were also used to extend his lifespan. He worked as a bounty hunter for a long time until Akatsuki asked him to work for them. Kakuzu joined and was mainly responsible for the organization finances, continuing to hunt for bounty with his partner. During his time in Akatsuki he had four partners which were all killed by him – either by his short temper or because they stood in his way when he attacked. In the end, Hidan became his partner. Since Hidan was immortal, Kakuzu had no opportunity to get rid of him but disliked him nevertheless. Character: ❖ - greedy - ❖ ❖ - miserly - ❖ ❖ - impatient - ❖ ❖ - violent - ❖ Kakuzu was the oldest member of Akatsuki. He tends to be grumpy and hostile and does not care about other people. He does care about money, though, much to the disgust of Hidan. He never had much to do with Haruka, although he personally had not shown any sign of particularily disliking her either. |
