Karthus the Necromancer

I. Like his father, Karthus was always meant to be a scientist. He followed his father around everywhere as a hatchling, learning from the best scribe in the entire Empire. Despite this, his mother wanted to teach him out to be a warrior, should the need ever arise. Karthus was gifted his mother's old armor on his seventh hatchday, and he continues to wear it to this day.

As Karthus grew older, he watched his brother Brenden become a performer. Although somewhat jealous of his fame in the Empire, Karthus knew that wasn't what he wanted. To be seen by everyone... it physically hurt his soul. Rather, he liked to stay in the shadows and help his father with his works.

II. One day, after becoming an adult, Karthus heard rumors of Jupiter. The dark mage who lived on an island away from the Empire. Wanting to learn more, he struck out to the island. Upon arriving, he was greeted by Ichirou. Feeling almost betrayed, he demanded to know where Jupiter was. Ichirou took the demanding dragon to his husband, where Karthus introduced himself and stated his desire to learn necromancy. Jupiter tried to warn him away, but Karthus was determined.

Ren and Dana were quite disappointed with their younger son's decision, but didn't push it. They allowed him to do as he wished, watching as he became a strong necromancer in his own right. The years passed by, until eventually the young Ragna also arrived at the island. With aer inability to become a strong mage like other apprentices, they were desperate and were looking for an easy way out. Wanting to prove his powers were strong, Karthus used them on Ragna.

III. The powers almost killed Ragna, but the Spiral stuck it out. Aer powers grew so quickly, ae were unable to control them. As such, Karthus was forced to lock them behind an enchanted necklace. Feeling horrible at what he had done, Karthus swore to make it up to Ragna. The two spent a lot of time together trying to fix what he'd done, and they eventually fell in love.
