- - - "Easy, boy." Hawthorn's hands come up to placate the snarling Myna, laughing. "You're too big to play rough with the manticores, Vocifer. Easy." When Vocifer hisses, his handler doesn't even flinch, not shying away from sharp teeth. He knows Vocifer wont hurt him; and he's right, as the beast gives and lowers himself to the ground, rolling belly-up for a pat. "That's it," he praises. "Good boy."


- - - One of two Effluvial Mynamimes gifted to Hawthorn by his uncle Katar, Vocifer is the more playful of the pair. While he's more than capable of doing his job as a war mount, the beast has a much more youthful and energetic personality, often forgetting his size when trying to rib other mounts into playing. When he doesn't get his way, his spoiled nature shows more clearly, throwing a '"fit" with bared teeth and huffing snarls, but it's all for show as Hawthorn has come to learn.
