One of Home's younger professors, Emmanuel (known as 'Professor Em' to his students and as 'Manny' to his friends on the faculty board) is a brilliant and well-traveled dragon from Fire. Raised an orphan, he credits his intelligence for getting him out of the lower echelons of Fire Flight society. Though he never possessed incredible talent in magic, he demonstrated great skill in archaeology and languages from a young age. Especially interested in the primordial archaeology of the First Age, he is typically the professor to introduce students to the earliest annals of Sornieth's history. Most often working with Home's advanced history and language students, Manny is often an enthusiastic thesis supervisor and advisor for Home's residents. Fascinated by mysteries and unable to tear himself away from a puzzle of any sort, his advanced students can count on research trips with him to always be perhaps a bit too interesting.

Well-spoken, polite, and rather on the timid side, Manny often appears polite to an absolute fault. Even those who know him best have rarely heard him speak out of turn, and no-one can recall his ever saying an unkind word to anyone. He is eloquent and borders on verbose, but he is excellent at explaining things so that even his youngest students understand easily. When he's not teaching, he can often be found either at Home's library or with his partner Omri, another of Home's associate professors. With a known soft spot for tea and pastries, he loves teaching baking electives when he has a free spot in his class schedule. A bit of a jack-of-all-trades, he also teaches electives in classical music and logical reasoning when he can. Despite his reputation as being quite good at just about everything, he's really not a very good magician - he's tried taking lessons with some Fire magician friends on the faculty board, and the general consensus is that Fire magic's emphasis on offensive stances just doesn't agree with his sensibilities. Manny's archaeological specialty is the translation of of ancient, long-dead languages; there is no greater joy to him than uncovering a stone tablet written in a language he's never even seen before. The other dragons on Home's faculty board often chide him for being too much of a workaholic, known for never being able to step away from a puzzle he hasn't solved yet. In fact, he has a prematurely bad back because of his bad habit of sleeping on the little couch in his office when he just can't bear to tear himself away from his work. When he's not working, though, he loves taking his advanced students on trips to nearby ruins - or, really, anywhere that interests him. Despite his meek personality, Manny is also horribly curious and simply cannot stand idly by when there's a puzzle to be solved. Well-respected among Home's faculty for his excellent problem-solving skills and level head and beloved by his students for his easy-going teaching style and gentle personality, Manny is truly one of the dragons who keeps Home running.
