One of the younger professors around Home and the only associate professor brave enough to staff Helheim Hall, Omri is a gifted scholar and magician. It is widely believed around Home that he most certainly would have been sorted into Helheim Hall had he been a resident at Home himself, and his generally eccentric and laissez-faire personality have never wavered enough for anyone to doubt this assessment. Although many residents at Home rarely take classes with professors outside their own Halls, Omri's energetic, bright, and lively personality leads to his classes being very colourful and interactive, making him a very popular professor. Omri tends to be very secretive about himself and his background - in fact, his partner Emmanuel, one of Home's other associate professors, is probably the only one who knows for sure. The young dragons at Home love to make guesses on his origins. All that is known about him for sure is that he grew up and obtained his academic certification in Light, though he is very knowledgeable about other Flights. Pegging him as one of Home's youngest professors is purely a guess based on his appearance and mannerisms, and a popular theory around Home is that he is at least hundreds of years old - a theory only fueled by his consistent refusal to answer to how old he is. He tends to get a bit dodgy even when asked simple questions, like if his name is actually his real name or if it's an alias, leading to a lot of his students simply calling him 'the professor.' Most of his colleagues have pieced together that he's just a very private sort of fellow. Passionate and excitable, Omri adores history and loves talking about it. He enjoys finding new ways to make his classes fun and exciting for his students, often challenging them to think outside of the box and rewarding creativity. He can be an extremely enthusiastic dragon, and the times he has accidentally sent his glasses flying off his head during a lecture as he was talking with too much gusto is more than he'd care to admit. He does have a bit of a one-track mind, however, and easily loses his train of thought when distracted. Despite his secretive personality, he is most often a friendly, enthusiastic, and excitable fellow. He truly loves learning and helping others learn. Often easy-going and easy to chat with, he is a very low-stress teacher. Despite this, he tends to have a rather short temper, and can get easily annoyed when he thinks students aren't taking him seriously or are goofing off in class. He is very easy to get along with - if students show him the bare minimum of respect, they'll be good. He fails students very rarely and the vast majority of his students get through their exams with no problems. Omri is well-known around Home for a notoriously massive sweet tooth. He suffers from chronic vitamin deficiencies and often craves sweet foods and especially candies. Omri is very well-traveled, and loves accompanying Emmanuel's classes on excursions, though he is often so wrapped up inside his own head he rarely organizes field trips himself. He has a well-known habit of always keeping his bag stocked with jelly beans (and occasionally other candies, but jelly beans are his absolute favourites) and can always be trusted to provide a sweet snack when another dragon is feeling down. He has a side interest in entomology, and his insect farms provide quite a bit of the food Home's insectivores eat. He also often guest-lectures for music classes, being quite the talented crooner himself. Regardless of his more eccentric tendencies, Omri has certainly earned his status as an absolutely beloved professor.

Behind the Name...
Omri (עמרי) is a Hebrew name. It means "my sheaf," referring to a sheaf of grain, and is also sometimes translated more loosely as "life."
