The smell of grilled meat, the sight of perfectly whipped merengue, the sound a fresh bread crust makes when breaking… Gordon was born for the kitchen. The only offspring of an influential and wealthy family in a big city, Gordon’s early life was filled with chances and opportunities. He dabbled in the arts, in literature, even in politics, but after each day of studying, it was the smell of freshly cooked delicacies that pulled him to the mansion’s kitchen’s door.

His visits did not remain unnoticed. Eventually, the family’s cook approached Gordon, who was still a child at that time, with the offer of a glimpse behind the scenes. That day, Gordon prepared his first dish: a cream topped cake with fresh fruit. With this simple dessert and the glistening in his parents’ eyes as they ate it, his passion awoke. Gordon begged his parents to let him learn the secrets of cooking, and they could not deny it. At first, Gordon learned with the mansion’s cook, but as he grew into adolescence, his father paid the entry fee to send him to the most renowned cooking school in the realm. It meant that Gordon had to bid farewell to his parents, but he was willing to do anything to follow his passion.

But Gordon soon had to learn that he was not the only one whose heart beat for cooking. The academy was tough and so was the rivalry amongst its students. Every single one of them wanted to impress the teachers and excel in their craft. Gordon had to deal with failures and the pressure of competition. But he knew he would not give up. Every stone put in his way he used to climb higher, to create more difficult and delicious dishes. In the end, he was one of a handful of students that received their graduation.

Freshly crowned as one of the best cooks in the realm, Gordon was faced with the decision where to go next. He could start a career in one of the big cities, but he wished for a place where he would not be one of many, but the master of his very own kitchen. When he heard of Dead Castle searching for a cook (after the last one had been thrown into jail for trying to poison the duchess, not that Gordon knew that), Gordon saw it as a call of destiny. There was no way he’d pass up the chance to be a cook in such a renowned castle. As the only applicant, Gordon was accepted and from that day on worked for the duchess.

During his first few months, Crow, a creature created by Azula, watched his every move. Gordon soon learned that not only one, but many cooks had found the dungeons underneath the castle as their last stop for trying to kill the court. Gordon, however, had no such intentions. He grew to be Katalin’s favorite cook very quickly after he started to work for her.

Gordon is good friends with Isabella. For a while, they had an affair, however, Gordon noticed that her friendship meant more to him than her romantical love. They remained close and Gordon would do anything for her, and so would Isabella in return.
