There are two types of dragons: ancient and modern. Unlike modern breeds that can intermingle, ancients can only mate with the same kind of ancient breed, they also are unable to wear apparel and have their own set of genes. Due to their breeding restrictions, ancient pairs may hatch up to five eggs per nest; click here to learn more. Ancients are indicated with a unique symbol:

Dragons must be at least five generations apart to breed. Before you invest in a dragon make sure it's not related to its mate by assaying bloodlines in the Scrying Workshop. Check that your pair is Ready to Breed (RTB). If you see this egg you must wait to nest the pair: Breeds are classed by rarity based on the length of cool down. Rarity affects the odds of hatching specific breeds. Dragons with the same rarity, ie. two Plentifuls give a 50/50 chance of hatching either breed. A Common and a Plentiful have a slightly greater chance of hatching the Plentiful etc. This only applies to Modern Breeds as Ancients can only mate with the same breed. Genes are also broken into rarity classifications. | __ |

|
Primary Genes: affect the body Secondary Genes : 'wing genes' affect wings and accent spots -- tail fur, head feathers, etc. Tertiary Genes: can cover body and wings; overlaps primary and secondary genes | __ |
__ |
A dragon has three colours of a potential 177, one for each gene. If the tertiary gene is Basic, the tertiary colour will not be visible. ________________________________ Offspring colours are determined by the parents' range. FR uses a colour wheel, range is defined by the shortest distance between the pairs' colors, up to and including their own. |
The Auction House (AH) allows you to tailor searches. Browse by age, level, price, genes, colours and more. You can even save searches. ______________________________ Explore the different breeds and genes to find what you like best. There's no rush: dragons are always hatching and lair space is limited! | __ |

Nests can have anywhere from 1 - 4 eggs, but parents of differing breeds, and ancient breeds, have a chance of laying five eggs. Flight is determined by the nest a dragon hatches in. If you wish to breed pairs in a different flight for lore reasons, or to coordinate eye-colour you can always rent a nest from another player. Always read and follow the rules of a rental thread and of fellow renters! It will take 6 days to hatch a nest if incubated daily, five days of incubation and one to hatch. A day is calculated by FR time. To hatch, you must have enough space in your lair. There's no penalty for leaving eggs on a nest. | __ |

After the events of Bounty of the Elements, dragons began manifesting changes to their eyes. The Eye Type of a dragon is random, with some exceptions, such as 'Glowing Eyes', which can be purchased in the gem marketplace, and some eye-types, like 'Dark Sclera', that are brewable. | __ |

Don't use pricing tools! The dragon market is complex and constantly in flux and a tool can't keep up with all the factors that make a hatchling unique. The best thing is to to search the AH (Auction House) for similar dragons. Don't list at LAH (lowest Auction House price) unless you intend it to be fodder. Increase sales by opening a hatchery, advertising in the 'Dragons Wanted' forum, or on Tumblr. For rare dragons (Gen1s, low-digit IDs, etc), auctions are good. Post a clean, easy-to-follow thread in the Auction Forum. Learn more! Admins say: "once you've given away, traded, or sold a dragon ...it's no longer under your ownership; it belongs to the new owner and they are free to do as they wish with the dragon." 'Do not exalt' rules are not allowed; no one can tell you what to do with your dragons as long as you're not harassing someone. Learn about exalting! |

A hatchery is a thread to showcase pairs you regularly nest and their offspring available for purchase. It's not necessary to have a hatchery to sell dragons, but if you don't mind a bit of work, and you consistently visit the site and nest dragons, it might be something you'd like to do. The first step to opening a hatchery is developing a few solid pairs that you love and want to share, so play around before you tackle opening a shop. Make your shop unique! There's lots of possibilities. Will you offer a bit of lore with each hatchling? Or sell training services along with your offspring? Maybe you'd like to open a shop with a friend or two to share the work. A successful shop starts with a good layout! Whatever the hatchery make sure it gets off to a good start by building a solid layout. Click on those swans over on the left, they'll help! | __ |

List stacks (33x, 50x, 99x) for treasure in the AH for 1 day.
Roughly the price per food point is: ⌲ meat = 50t X #pt _⌲ plants = 35t X #pt __⌲ seafood = 70 X #pt __⌲ insects = 65 X # pt. ex: calculate price of a 4pt meat item : 50 X 4 = 200. In a stack of 99: 200 X 99 = 19,800. Not a bad haul! | . |
