Biography

Lapis and her band of Fae came to us one day a few weeks after our clan was founded, and have been living here ever since. They appear to all be mute, as they have not spoken even a single word to any one of us. They never really use their frills, either. Much of the clan, while trying to be nice, is wary of them and/or think they are a bit creepy, while I feel like I am one of the few who actually finds them quite charming.

Lapis, in particular, seems to be the leader of the group. She likes to flutter around the Common Area and the Hoard, like the other “Jewelry Box Fae,” but sometimes she comes into my den when I am studying. I’ve gotten to talking to her occasionally, and I consider her a friend. When Lapis and her group first came, they did not seem to have names, or at least not ones they wanted us to know, so the whole clan helped to make a list of names and we let them point to the ones they wanted us to call them by. I guess the reason why many in the clan think of these Fae as eerie is probably because of the old “Jewelry Box Fae” myth, which I myself do not believe. The story goes a bit like this:

Once upon a time there lived an old, vain Fae, and she loved jewelry. When the Fae died, her spirit was said to go into a ruby ring she had owned while living, and that she had turned into a bright red and silver Fae. From then on, dragon’s occasionally talked about spotting these “Jewelry Box Fae,” as they soon came to be called, mute Fae with colorful, crystal-like wings and metallic scales seen around clans with dragons that had owned lots of jewelry and had recently passed away. Hogwash. In any case, Lapis and her Fae are living with us now.
