PYRESONG

THE SECOND OMEN

Bringer of War, Keeper of Family

SUMMARY

Pyresong- the second OMEN. Like a coal glowing dimly from underneath the ashes, Pyresong was stoked back into life by the Flamecaller. Sent along with the other omens to revive the hidden caches of eggs stored by the Flamecaller ages ago, she took wing and found herself within the territory of clan Rivensong. There she was incensed to find Frostkeeper already preaching his laws to the clan, trying to instate order. Horrified to see the face of one of her most hated enemies, Pyresong sought to kill him.

Stopped only by the rest of the clan, Pyresong settled for staying within the shrine the clan built for her. Kept from killing Frostkeeper but still determined to fight him at every chance, she continued to urge the clan towards action, rather than inaction. She taught the new banescales the old songs of the flames, sheltering them as the smoldering embers of war grow ever stronger.

Pyresong teaches the new generation the ancient songs of family and war- the second harbinger of the end.
HISTORY

Pyresong and her siblings were hatched within the endless heat of the Great Furnace, whose flames were still untamed and new. She flew towards war, wrapped in the songs of her family and the tales of the fierce battles their elders had fought. She grew up in the chaos of war, fighting alongside her kin. She earned stories and songs herself, which she sung to the new clutches when she returned to the Furnace.

Slowly, however, the war pressed on and grew steadily worse. First, the elders died. Then, the older kin- the dragons who raised and taught Pyresong and her siblings. Finally, she watched as her nestmates succumbed to the war and hatchlings were sent to fight younger and younger. Soon, Pyresong was one of the oldest warriors in a regiment of dangerously inexperienced dragons. Still, she continued to fight against the tyranny of the Icewarden.

The tide changed forever when the gaolers discovered the first of the banescale's egg clutches. Slowly the songs of the banescales died, with no new voices to replace them. When the gaolers froze most of the remaining banescales, Flamecaller quietly accepted defeat and Pyresong was called home to serve as one of the old exalted.

Years later, Pyresong was compelled to return to Sorneith after spending years in slumber in the depths of the Great Furnace's magma. She flew south, using her flames to awaken the hidden clutches of the last banescale eggs. These young dragons were strange, distant from the Flamecaller and unrecognizing of her songs. Eventually finding her way to the land of the Rivensong, this was where she discovered the re-emergence of the gaolers. Unfamiliar with the new world, she has vowed to never trust any member of the ice flight and to protect the youngest generation from their brutal campaign. Settled within the Rivensong, she can most often be found within her shrine or watching over the clan's nesting grounds.
