FROSTKEEPER

THE FIRST OMEN

Bringer of Justice, Keeper of Law

SUMMARY

Frostkeeper- the first OMEN. As the Southern Icefield slowly began to melt, the Icewarden compelled the very first of his children to emerge from their captivity deep within the Fortress of Ends. After swearing new allegiance to the Icewarden, Frostkeeper was sent to guide the youngest of the gaolers back into the world. This was where he discovered clan Rivensong. Fascinated to learn the clan had predicted the re-emergence of the ancients, he decided to encourage the clan to follow the ancient laws of ice or face judgement.

The appearance of Pyresong, one of the old banecale warriors, was what convinced him to stay permanently. Unable to kill her, but still seeking to protect the clan, he stayed within the shrine created for him in order to try and counter her calls for war and chaos. He believes that the laws of the Icewarden should be followed by all dragons, and imposed upon the modern clans for their own protection from the horrors of the shade.

Frostkeeper teaches the new generation the ancient laws of justice and punishment- the first harbinger of the end.
HISTORY

Frostkeeper was born when the Fortress of Ends was still in its youth, when many of the cells were still empty. Raised and given the best education his elders could provide, Frostkeeper proved to have both a clever understanding of the law and a willingness to carry out even the most merciless of punishments. Given the title of warden, he was placed in charge of a prison block and given the task of finding and imprisoning the Icewarden's enemies.

As the war with fire started in earnest, Frostkeeper followed in the wake of the gaoler legions, capturing any banescale soldiers left alive after the battles. He dragged them back to his prison, ensuring they stayed deep within the fortress. His prison quickly became known as one of the most efficient and well managed within the ice flight- and to their enemies, it became known as a place no one returned from. When the war grew worse, Frostkeeper advocated for the imprisonment of the banescales, not their slaughter- in his eyes, they were more useful in chains than they were dead. His arguments were heeded amongst his brethren, but the Icewarden gave a different judgement.

After the war, Frostkeeper noticed his siblings growing restless. There were whispers among their ranks, that the Icewarden was no longer listening to them. New laws were creeping into the books, ones written not from the mouth of the Icewarden but from the gaolers themselves. Frostkeeper himself had been feeling more and more that the Icewarden was neglecting his own prisons. Lacking the knowledge and ability to fight, he urged his kin towards revolution by providing them with resources. Soon fighting within the fortress broke out. The Icewarden, displeased, ended the entire affair and imprisoned his children in their own jails.

Frostkeeper was released from the ice much later in order to help the younger gaolers, the descendants of those who remained loyal to the Icewarden but kept deep within the Fortress, out back into Sornieth. He took a second vow of allegiance to the Icewarden, but in his freedom and faced with a world that has forgotten all of the laws of ice, the old gaoler has private moments of doubt.
