Lore
Leoja liked to consider himself the most gifted dragon ever. He was related to Naomi, for Tidelord's sake. He had a good home and silly friends. He was protected at all times and treated with respect. What more could he want?
Fame. That was what he wanted. He didn't just want to be known by 94 other dragons in his clan, he wanted to be known by all, loved by all.
It sounded a lot more selfish than he wanted it too.
Leoja shook his head and returned back to reality, for he had spaced out thinking about another life. Beside him, a similar-looking male Tundra was carefully stacking rocks. Leoja smirked and inched his tail ever closer to the Tundra.
"Ninety-seven.. Ninety-eight.. Almost there.." The Tundra muttered as he placed one rock after the other. Leoja's tail was in the air now, right behind the Tundra's head. The Tundra's talon shook as he carefully tried to put the 100th rock on the stack.
Leoja's tail shot forward and bonked the Tundra on the back of his head, sending him stumbling forward right into the rock pile. Th-th-thud-d-d!! went the rocks as they tumbled onto the ground.
The Tundra roared in frustration. "LEOJA!!!!" He bellowed. "I was so close!! Why???" He groaned. "Why do I have such mischievous friends?"
Leoja laughed and smiled at the Tundra. "Come on, it ain't that big a deal. Just make another stack."
The Tundra looked like he was going to explode. "Do you now how long that took me??? UGH, I'm going to go SULK in my DEN now." And then he stomped off.
Leoja laughed again. He would go crazy if he didn't have his friends to tease. Leoja looked up at the sky. Yes, his life here was great. But there was something in him.. Something tugging at his heart that made him want more.
He sighed. And then he got an idea. Perhaps he could just leave his friends a note, explaining that he couldn't stay. And under the cover of darkness when most of the clan fell asleep, he would go. Go where? Somewhere he could be happy and famous. Yes. That was what he'd do.
So Leoja waited. Come nightfall, he left his hastily scribbled notes beside the heads of his snoozing friends. And then, when he figured the coast was clear, he ran. Into the air he flew, his wings pumping. The starry night sky shone at him, surrounding him in light. Leoja grinned a wide grin. And then he soared in the direction of what he hoped would be a new home.
