Biography
Personal Preference Appearance Adjustment
A relatively recent urban legend that has been picking up traction in the lands between the Starfall Isles and the Southern Icefield.
On the longest and coldest nights of the year, the nocturnes of the Tangled Wood steal into the world and out from the gaze of prying eyes-- traversing the realm by shadow to leave odd gifts and trinkets for their outsider brethren to discover. However, according to some in the icy floes drifting between the realms of frost and arcane, they have been joined by a new mysterious face...
A few dragons claim to have spotted a young gaoler traveling with them in the past handful of years. Braver and more curious than the company she keeps, she is adorned with luminescent baubles that wash her in a soft glow of light. They've never heard her speak, but a concerned adult has called to her once or twice only to be given no answer. Having apparently learned some tricks of her own, she slips out of sight before they can reach her-- a gift always left in the wake of her absence.
The snow-coated bushes and evergreens of the floes have also begun sporting décor, dressed in discarded knickknacks and belongings that had previously been considered lost by the local clans. This, too, is believed to be the work of their new visitor. However, concrete evidence has been difficult to pinpoint with some clans and settlements now decking their trees in a similar style as a way to entice her to pass through (and potentially catch a glimpse of her.) It may not be as fancy as traditional tree decorating, but there's a certain charm and humility to it that ice dragons especially enjoy.
The question most at the forefront of her witnesses' minds is where she came from... and what she is. The more popular theory among Ice Floe youth is that she's a benevolent spirit; perhaps even the ghost of a hatchling who succumbed to the elements and is now bound by them. Others entertain a less morbid alternative. Could the nocturnes have taken her in when she wandered too far from home? Seen it as a fair trade for the eggs they left stowed away in their strange chests?
Others, still, shrug it off as the latest silly rumor spun up to stave off dreary moods in the harshest weeks of their winter. Regardless of what anyone may think of the myth: in the rare instances where the gaoler child was seen, the flora is always left well dressed.
The Tale Behind:
- Daughter of Noreis and Lycurgus, Holly was a young hatchling mere weeks out of her egg when she wandered too far from the fortress one evening. Gaolers of various Orders searched for her at her parents' behest, but the unrelenting snow and wind that day made her difficult to track; no less find in the surrounding wilderness.
- Later that night, the Nocturnes found her. Thought to be just an odd little tundra, she was cared for by the party and soon whisked away with them, eventually being brought to their home deep within the Tangled Wood.
- Although not inherently attuned to Shadow magic, Holly did not struggle to learn it. Perhaps her arcane nature allowed her to adapt more easily to magic of any kind.
- Like any of the other nocturne children, the Nocturnes began taking her out with them on their annual trysts through Sornieth. Although not capable of flight, she kept pace with them through the tricks and spells she was taught. She has been a regular participant since.
- Is enthusiastic, gentle, and inquisitive. Likes to sing to herself.
- Is fascinated by the different Flight holidays and celebrations, and loves studying modern dragon culture.
- Is, however, most drawn to the dragons of Southern Sornieth. Harboring vague memories of her birth parents, Holly finds herself lingering most within the Icefield, and especially the Fortress of Ends. Wondering if she could just catch a glimpse... it's for that same reason that she often stays behind just to observe the Crystalline Gala festival.

Holly's Parents
by Snowrush
Noreis and Lycurgus' third child from the brood. Once she and her siblings hatched, the pair was confused, on how a very orange mom, and a very blue father, had three, green little children. They loved their kids, and Noreis even got over her feelings of confusion pretty quickly, Lycurgus was still forever confused, but he loved them, too.
Her parents decided to take her, and her siblings back to their fortress, and like their parents themselves, these kids were...met with mixed feelings. Some jeered at them (only to be met with an angry mom and dad), and some welcomed them (Provided that they can be SOME help), and the ones who were also born in different clan territories welcomed these little ones with open talons...
