After catching a few waves, Namiko decided to call it a day and begin fishing along the shorelines of the Tangled Wood. Because of the currents from the land of the Water flight, fish came in easily, so he would toss his nets to get some food for himself and Maru. As he was dragging his net back in, he noticed something covered in limpets. He reached beyond the fish to grab it, realizing he pulled in a stray dragon egg.

He and Maru weren't ready to raise a hatchling, so he did the next best thing -- bring the egg to Queen Nyx to nurse until the dragon inside was ready to be on its own.

Queen Nyx was more than happy to welcome the lone egg into her nest -- she never nursed a Water dragon before, so this was a very exciting experience for her! After incubating the egg for a few days, she fell in love with the Pearlcatcher that hatched with shining blue eyes.

Years went by, and when Myriad was finally ready to leave Nyx's nest, they had a serious conversation about bringing Myriad back to the Tidelord or having her stay in the Tangled Wood.

"This is the only place I know as home," Myriad shared. "I want nothing more than to stay here, with you, and help protect the dragons of the Tangled Wood. My eyes may say Water, but my heart belongs to the Shadows."

So Myriad stayed, making it her duty to welcome the new dragons that Queen Nyx and King Neptune bring into the palace. While she performed this job very well for many years, nothing prepared her for the arrival of Atlas the Mage.

In a matter of no time, Atlas and Myriad had fallen in love and began to spend every spare moment with each other. When he wasn't battling, he'd rush to the palace to help Myriad welcome dragons. The battles, however, soon became lengthier and the time the Pearlcatchers spent together slowly dwindled.

When they were together, Myriad would notice how his eyes would search for another a dragon, and when she realized that dragon was the witty Imperial, Artemis, she knew she couldn't hold onto him.

"It hurts to tell us to part ways," she sighed, finally mustering up the courage to have the conversation with Atlas, "but it'd be selfish of me to keep you here when you want to be there, with her. Just promise me, when you see me around the palace, your eyes will still tell me 'hello.'"

She may have loved Atlas before, but she knows her heart beats for someone else out there. She wants to find them, and make her heart a home.

Although it may not happen any time soon, she's willing to wait for someone to love her in return.
