When the world was a growing thing, the Plaguebringer created dragons by hand and unleashed them upon the world to spread the virus. Two of these were the most powerful of all, going on to be called 'witches' as they settled down into the marshy swamplands of Quod Labryinthus. Many centuries later their ranks would swell, including other witches so powerful they could count themselves as gods. One of these holds powers which bolsters and terrifies: the power over war itself. I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see him myself. Among all the plague-eyed inhabitants this deep in Labryinthus is one with the pale eyes of Ice! Even stranger, he seems to be living with the rest of the witches' followers. It's hard to get accurate information, unfortunately, but he is certainly no witch and no native. I was also told that he did not travel through any of the surrounding villages or trading posts, simply 'popped up' out of nowhere in the middle of the swamp. Very strange. Perhaps a teleportation spell or some kind of other spatial distortion? What floors me is that he seems to have been accepted by the rest of the inhabitants. I know that he has traded with some who refuse to engage with the witches' brood, since they do not think he has anything to do with them. As time goes on however, this is less and less likely to hold true. Already, I had someone tell me there's a flicker of red in those blue eyes. The document has a few stray snowflakes which have settled lightly around it. --- I can't say I'm surprised you're, well, surprised by me. It's a long story. I don't know for sure, but my homeland and this place must have once had some sort of relationship- they had a portal between them, at least. What I did, it must have angered the thing beneath my home. Now I'm stuck here. And all my family sleeps. I don't know why I'm telling you this. There's nothing you can do. But them? Maybe this is all divine intervention, real divinity. I always hoped, one day, I'd explore the world. Maybe I believe in Them more than I ever believed in anything else. Maybe if I prove my martial worth, Zeal will help me free my people. I have to believe that. | _____________ |
