Misaki was hatched in the The Archmages of the Myst Archive’s old territory in Starwood Strand. Her parents, Swirly and Ellie, tended her nest in the Archive’s hearth and doted on her egg day and night, murmuring happy coatl noises of endearment. When she hatched, it was joyous occasion and all the Archmages were happy to greet her. She learned telepathy, the Archmages' preferred means of communication, quickly and showed she was a bright young dragon with an interest in the magical arts. She was the pride and joy of her parents, endlessly praised for he intelligence and pleasant nature.

One evening, while wandering outside the Myst Archives in search of playmates, a shadow passed over young Misaki. A high pitch screech alerted the Archmages to the hatchling’s distress but by they time they arrived to the scene all that was left was a trail of shimming purple plumage. Misaki had been whisked off by a Cleaver Phalanx vulture and though the Archmages pursued the kidnapper they were not the ones to save little Misaki. A traveling Spiral, Glimmer, had been passing by when she saw the Coatl hatchling thrashing in the claws of a Mirror. Glimmer took action, sending a flurry of spells hurling down at the mirror, forcing it to drop Misaki, who Glimmer dove to catch. Before the plague dragon could return an attack, it caught wind of the Archmages rushing towards them and decided it was best to flee instead. Glimmer returned an unharmed Misaki to her parents and was invited by Minka to stay with the Archmages. Following the incident, it was decided that they would move to the Southern Icefield to get away from the looming threat of The Cleaver Phalanx coming for their hatchlings.
