Carrot

Name meaning: A carrot is a root vegetable, usually orange in colour, though purple, black, red, white, and yellow cultivars exist. Carrots are a domesticated form of the wild carrot (Daucus carota) native to Europe and southwestern Asia. The plant probably originated in Persia and was originally cultivated for its leaves and seeds. The most commonly eaten part of the plant is the taproot, although the stems and leaves are eaten as well. The domestic carrot has been selectively bred for its greatly enlarged, more palatable, less woody-textured taproot.

Carrot came from the Wandering Contagion and she is the first Gaoler anyone from this clan had ever seen... at least at their door. As a hatchling, she was "discovered" by Pidge, Hunk, and Lance during one of their adventures through an underground black market operation of sorts. She sort of accidentally stowed away with them and, by the time they realized, it was too late to return her. Besides, she was intent on following them. They weren't even sure what she was at first until they brought her back to the Zephyr Steppes and were told tales of the Ancients.

Hunk was the one who nicknamed her Carrot for the sake of having something to call her and it ended up sticking.

Growing up in their care, Carrot was an enthusiastic bundle of fluff, always at their heels and eager to learn... or at the very least to see what they were up to. She wasn't used to being around many other dragons or spending time with anyone, for that matter, so not being immediately pushed away was exciting for her.



Hunk's willingness and enthusiasm towards experimentation resulted in a bit of an accident that caused flowers to start growing on Carrot when she was still a hatchling.


A mysterious bottle washes ashore. The label promises instant changes and gratification...but if one were to peel the label up they would find another underneath. "Do NOT Drink." The handwriting is very familiar...

Lance unfortunately discovers the bottle and brings it back home in his excitement to show the others. This can only end in a moderate amount of trouble.
(And then Carrot became more green.)
