Z O R R O
Travelling Dragonshadowmid.png

Zorro is a small, shy dragon who loves being in the sun. He was born to a shadow lair, but wants to bask in some light, and just try some new flights! His friends come from all over the map, and he would really like to visit everywhere at least once! (He also would love it if you would let him keep his mask on, and if you could send it with him to his next lair.)

Uh-oh, looks like this little dude wandered a little too far from his home lair (MoonlilyluvsCas, #559581), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to his home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. If you do not want a dragon in return, you can drop him off at the Rest Hub! This is not necessary, but he would be very grateful!

Traveler's Log:
I never kept one of these before, but now that I'm here in the Light Flight, I thought I might as well start. I lost my mask on my trip here, and my traveling companion kindly bought me a replacement, so I wanted to go to the market to thank the seller. She sold all manner of paper goods, including some blank journals... so here I am with a journal.

It's nice here. Sunny. Really, really sunny. The residents all say this area is shady, that I need to get up near the Beacon to see what real sunshine is like, but I'm pretty happy with this. Maybe I'll make the trip up near the Beacon soon. Not yet.

I do need to be able to pay my rent, though. I saw a "now hiring" sign in the tea shop window, so I worked up my courage and asked about a job. They told me they needed a "small waiter" - I guess it's tough for a Snapper to handle cups and plates sized for a Fae or Veilspun - so now I'm learning how to wait tables. I was really nervous at first, but I'm getting better at dealing with the customers! They don't seem to mind that I'm shy.

[On the next page, the ink color and pen impressions have changed] It's been a while since I wrote in here. I got very comfortable in and around Lanternlea, but I think it's time for me to move on now. There's so much to see out there!

Traveler's Log:
I've been on the road for a few days, and I found a pond with delicious bugs skating over the water... I may have spent a few precious hours of daylight hunting them and eating my fill. And then I might have spent a few more hours of daylight basking and processing my meal... However, I have made it to the Windswept Plateau, so I am going to try and find a village, now.

[On the same page, the writing continues, though the script is sloppier and obviously written in haste.]

I have found civilisation! I ended up on a cliff and from there I could see a town in the distance. It appears to be islands closely linked by bridges, surrounding a larger island in the middle... Interesting! Like a small archipelago! I'll update when I arrive and find lodging.
--- The pen ink is blue now, rather than black for the new entry:

I have arrived at the town and have found a cozy little barn to stay in. The snapper that lives on this island has a small avocado tree orchard and I have been hired for the duration of two weeks for the harvest and some odd jobs! I start tomorrow. Maybe if I like it here, I can find more odd jobs and stay a while! I'll admit... I saw the most beautiful Guardian earlier. I think she was also new, she was asking the way... I hope I see her again!

[Zorro grows to lvl 7 and gains [1] Might Fragment after the labor, feeling noticably stronger!]

---The next page reveals the next entry.

So, journal... You remember that Guardian lady I mentioned? Well... I'll have you know that I, Zorro, may or may not have gained her favor! It took a few days of gathering my courage... But Fresh said I had to shoot my shot or lose my chance forever... She may move on from here soon, after all. When I saw her near the circus a few days ago, I finally managed to introduce myself. I was so nervous, I told her my name was Zorry. It took several hours before I had the heart to correct myself... She laughed but... It wasn't mean. She genuinely thought I was funny...

But I am not here to write about our dates... No, I am here to write about joyous news! Minerva has asked me to father her first clutch of eggs and I could not be more delighted. I have fathered a clutch before, some time ago, but last I heard they have gone to serve the Icewarden. Perhaps this time I shall get the chance to know them before they fly off!... Is this how mother felt when I left? Perhaps I should visit some time...

(Zorro gained Bolster!)

It has been some time since I got here and I have made a pretty penny working a the Orchard! I did spend a lot of it on dates with Minerva and to help our hatchlings set up once they grew... But I have plenty to continue my journey now. That's the plan. Minerva is eager to move on and... Me too! I like her a lot but she's very serious sometimes and truth be told... Since coming out of my shell, I find I am not.

It's time for a new adventure!

Traveler's Log:

Zorro was declared a gamer in the forums.

"The one who spends the most hours on gaming is the traveler, Zorro. However, Zorro spends most of his time maintaining several Stardew Valley files on a Nintendo Switch Lite (portable since he does travel a lot). It reminds him of his time when he worked on an avocado farm! He also likes any other game with sim elements. When he does settle down, he wants to get a gaming desktop and start streaming Minecraft mods!"

Traveler's Log:

Next up, I went back to my home! It wasn't the clan I was hatched into, but it felt like home to me. With beautiful flowers and vibrant plants, it was super peaceful. Plus the sun was always gorgeous, perfect for sunbathing! I spent a good chunk of time here, just keeping to myself despite the crowds. The amount of visitors has definitely grown a lot since I last was here. I was approached by a nice fellow traveler named Theremin, we hung out and talked a lot. But eventually she decided to go, and I agreed the crowds were becoming a bit much for me. We left at the same time, and I'm excited to see more of the world again!

BigB0yJENKINS
Traveler's Log:

Theremin had told me about a wild and exciting place hidden deep in the plaguelands. Theremin had always been obsessed with the "chaotic", as she always said, and although she's much more outgoing than me, I can't say that her sense of adventure hadn't rubbed off on me. So I decided I would try and find this place after we parted ways.

I was not prepared.

The place was...I can scarcely describe how surreal it was. What I can tell you was that I had a close encounter with this horrible creature, it was a giant serpent-like thing with the head of a fruit fly. It was filled with fluid that sloshed around in it and spilled out of its horrible fly mouth, and the sounds...I couldn't take it. It probably would have attacked me had I not been saved by a spiral that happened to be passing through. How grateful I was to see another dragon! That spiral was Phlegyas, and they were the only reason I was able to escape this nightmare in one piece. I don't know what kind of friends Theremin made in this place, but I definitely didn't meet any!

Traveler's Log:

After such a difficult time, I admittedly wanted a safe place. I'm somewhat ashamed to say that I returned to the Viridian Labyrinth - and was unsure if I would even continue my travels. Phleygas was kind enough to accompany me back across the sea. I was rather shaken up after encountering such a beast - the knowledge that such things can exist, do exist still haunts me - and though I tried to dissuade her Phleygas claimed they would not have felt they succeeded in protecting me if they did not accompany me to somewhere I felt safe. Somewhere along the way, my passion for adventuring returned. They have such a unique and charming way of seeing the world; travelling with them reminded me of why I left the Tangled Woods in the first place. By the time we reached the Viridian Labyrinth, we were both ready to begin exploring anew.

I was fortunate enough for Phleygas to invite me with them during their adventures in the Viridian Labyrinth. Having been here before, I was happy to show them around, and took us to a large clan known as Kel Asari. There, they trained with the great mages and warriors of the clan to become stronger, and I spent time finding friends new and old. Though... looking back, much of my time was spent with Phleygas. I would go watch them train when I could, to provide them support to repay them for the support they gave me. And though I made many friends while in Kel Asari, I found myself wanting to be with Phleygas more than any of them.

Gods, I feel so foolish. I spent so many months with them, and never realized how I felt about them. I never had to think about it. They were always just there, or we had arranged to meet later of not. Being with them was so... easy. I thought I felt at home because I was back in the Viridian Labyrinth, but it was them. Gods, it was them.

They're gone now. They left yesterday on their own adventure - they had such a fire in their eyes when they were telling me about their new destination, and I didn't want to impose by asking to come along, but now I wish I did. Shadowbinder herself, I don't even know how Phleygas feels about me. How could I possibly present my feelings to them now, when we are so far away?

I can't go searching for them. It feels... wrong, especially when I don't know if my feelings are reciprocated. They have such noble reasons to travel, and such a passion for it. It's not my place to interrupt it. But... I hope that we find each other again, some day, even if they don't return my feelings and even if my heart belongs to another by then. They are an amazing, brave, and kind dragon. I was foolish to let them slip out of my life.

I've never felt this way before. Minerva was wonderful, but we were fundamentally different dragons. And while Phleygas and I were different in many ways, and similar to Minerva in some, it feels... good. They are brave where I cower, and I am optimistic where they expect the worst. It seems like we would clash, but... we listen to each other. It feels silly to say, but that's the best I can explain it. Our differences have never caused problems, and instead helped me see the world differently. I can only hope it was the same for them - they didn't seem to get frustrated with our differences, at least. Being with them, facing the world with them, felt like the perfect ebb and flow of energies.

I hope their travels go well. I hope any travelling partners who are lucky enough to find themselves at their side cherish their time together.

Traveler's Log:

Though I had travelled across the sea of a thousand currents a handful of times during my journey, I never had the chance to visit one of the clans that make themselves home amongst its endless waves. I decided to stay at the Shimmering Shallow Isles when the merchant vessel I was hitchhiking on with stopped there for supplies.

The locals welcomed me readily, it seems they get a lot of travellers coming through especially in the warmer months of the year when shipments to more southern flights become viable again when the waters joining Sornieths inner and outer seas free themselves of ice. Whilst exploring the wilder areas of the Isles, its rivers and its eucalyptus gullies I stumbled into a ridgeback who reluctantly introduced themselves to me as Eno who seemed be studying the area. They were a little standoffish at first, it seems they usually don't run into other dragons on this side of isles but after chatting about the differences in the plants I would usually see back in the Viridian Labyrinth they seemed to open up a bit more and offered to show me some of the rarer plants hidden in the higher reaches of the isles mountain.

After a couple more days exploring, where I also ran into another researcher geez for a small island there sure are a lot of scientists Billabong who was more than happy to show off some of the aquatic snakes living in the Isles lake, and a farmer who I was able to chat to about farming cultivation techniques, though another dragon, this annoying orange coatl insisted in hanging around the entire conversation.

After a couple more days of taking my time to explore the Isles markets and surrounding seas, I returned to my travels to see the rest of Sornieth, hopefully my next spot will have a wider variety in invertebrates to eat that aren't just clams.
