━━━━━━━ lore ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

____The sun dawned on a new day and with it came the sights and sounds of the world to the small dragonet that had only recently hatched. The ruins around her seemed imposing to the small figure, and everything seemed giant to her. There were no other dragons to be seen, despite the momentous occasion of another member of the royal family being hatched. It seemed they had all disappeared in a great tragedy, as there were signs of struggle in the ruins of the ancient castle. The dragonet was oblivious to this, and after consuming her eggshell, she started to explore.

____Right in front of the nest her egg was laid on, she saw a small golden plaque that bore the name "Arexa." She had no clue what it was, but it seemed to roll of the tongue nicely, so she decided to call herself that. Next to the plaque was a small chain of gold that had a small pendant, and this pendant was made of ruby and more gold. Arexa picked up the chain and placed it around her neck, admiring the way it looked on her dusty purple scales. Wherever it touched her neck sort of tingled, and Arexa felt a magical connection from it, even if she didn't know it yet.

____Soon, her pearl came, and she sat down at the nest to admire it. It wasn't shiny yet, and didn't glow like she knew it was supposed to, but that didn't matter to her. It was gorgeous.

____By this time the sun had climed high into the air and had started to beat down on the exposed ruins. Her dark scales absorbed the heat quicly, and soon she needed to take cover under the nearby trees. As she sat under the trees, she contemplated what to do next. She may have been young, but she knew that it was dangerous to be by herself for such a long time.

____Without much rhyme or reason, the dragonet decided to get up and started trudging in a random direction that looked easy to walk through. Birds sang above her head, taunting her to fly up into the sky, but she stayed on the ground. Her light, delicate wings were still not dry, and it wouldn't be safe to attempt to fly into the heavens like she so wanted to do. Other than the taunting, it was a glorious morning, and she reveled in the sunshine that made her scales glow.

____Something inside of her compelled Arexa to break into a run, and she bounded through the forest she had now enterred as fast as possible. She was still a dragonet, after all.

____As the day progressed, she didn't have one thought about her parents or what had happened in the ruins that left her alone. She was too caught up in the wonder of the world she had just been born into, and too excited to get on with life to really care about her past.

____At some point in the day, she decided to try and fly. She didn't know what lay ahead and it would be a good skill to master. Hopping up along the ground and then spreading her tiny wings seemed to be working pretty well, and was getting her along much faster than running. Gleefully, she continued with this method of travel until it started to get dark, and looked around for a shelter. Eventually, the dragonet decided a tree would be the best idea and scrambled up the nearest one, struggling to climb to the very top. That night she fell fast asleep under the twinkling stars.

____Several more days go by with a similar pattern. She works on flying and walking, all the while polishing her pearl as much as she can. Then, eventually, she reaches the end of Light territory and is met with the vast, open sea. She can see in the distance a large island, that is overgrown with trees and plants. Without much of a second thought, she jumps off the edge of the cliff and starts to fly towards the island, as fast as her little wings would carry her.

____Once she landed, Arexa immediately collapsed without much more thought to the area she had landed in. She was tired from flying that long, as her wings hadn't been tested much before that day. As she falls into sleep she hears some dragons rushing to her side, lifting her up and then flying her through the jungle.

____Arexa wakes up in a small hammock inside a den that seemed to be made of leaves. Motherly voices seemed to echo around the area, fussing over the small cuts and scrapes she had gained from practicing flying. Her pearl sat next to her in the hammock, its cold surface pressing against her side. Every muscle in the dragonet's body was sore, and she didn't want to move from the warmth the cave and hammock provided.

____"I think she's awake!" one of the voices yelled. There were more rustling sounds and Arexa was aware of more dragons huddled around her hammock. "What's your name, sweetie?" the same voice asked softly. Her voice hurt and the whisper came out hoarse and unsure,

____"Arexa."

____"Arexa! What a pretty name! I think I'll call you Are (Ari) for now. My name is Aili, and I'm the medic for the clan." Aili then turned to two other dragons that were near her and introduced them as Lehana and Andromeda. "Where are you from?" Aili asks

____"Don't... know..."

____"Well that's quite alright dear. Any known living relatives?"

____"No."

____"That's okay. You can stay here as long as you need, or stay here with us. Right ladies?" and both dragons nodded in agreement. "Then it's settled. Are is to stay in our clan as long as she needs. Now get some more sleep dear."

____Arexa needed no more convincing as she settled into the hammock, enjoying the safety and comfort of having a home.
