She is the light in the shadows! A supernova to illuminate the night! Only she will be able to save your clan from a grave danger of which lurks in the future. She is one disguised in darkness, though her eyes reflect the luminosity of the heavens. The daughter of cold. She will bring warmth. It was no coincidence when Aja found a very young, white and dark blue coatl on the edge of their territory, nearing death. How she got there? No one knew. Not even the hatchling herself could recall her whereabouts. Certain that this was the child foretold in the prophecy, she eagerly brought the young one back to the clan, to the medic, Dusk, whom received the prophecy firsthand. Dusk insisted that she wasn't the one, based off of a feeling. Based off of a whim. Aja was frustrated with this news, but knew the coatl had something to do with the prophecy. Unsure of what to do, she allowed the hatchling to stay among them, but left her to mostly her own devices. The girl felt lonely, mostly outcasted by the rest of the clan for being an outsider. She found herself travelling Sornieth, feeling like she needed to find somewhere she belonged, somewhere she was needed. She wandered through busy Wind territory before something... someone, caught her eye. Was that.. a reflection of her?! She approached the figure questioningly to find out that she wasn't seeing things, this was a rather handsome male coatl, who just happened to have a strikingly similar appearance to hers. Amazed by this, the girl told the male all about her travels, and how she had hardly seen anyone in Sornieth that looked similar to her, let alone an almost-exact clone! The two mingled and spent a great amount of time together until they fell in love. The girl was determined to bring him back to her home, to show her old clan that she WAS someone, she had even found someone to love her. The boy seemed nervous about it, but agreed. Upon arriving home, a week later the couple had a nest of two. The female had never felt so happy in her whole life, she knew this boy was her soul mate, and she was finally pursuing her dream. The night after the nest was laid, the male and one of the eggs disappeared without a trace. The clan had sent out search teams all over the Sunbeam Ruins, seeking any sort of information of the male's whereabouts. The search turned up with nothing. The girl would have searched herself, but she refused to leave the side of her single egg as she weeped over the disappearance of her mate and unborn child. It wasn't long before something strange began to happen, however. The egg grew oddly warm, until it was almost too hot to touch. Flinching away from the intense heat of the egg, the female simply watch it. The egg began to crack, fierce rays of light emitting from inside before a lively hatchling burst from the shell.
This was the dragon foretold from the prophecy. Dusk deemed her the to-be leader of the clan, and shortly after she was given a name.

History/Personality Traits Caly didn't ask to be born into deity-granted royalty. Hell, if she had it her way, she would just be any old average dragon. But no, she is confined to the prison that is leadership. Is she really the leader? Of course not. Not yet, that is. The young coatl needs to learn much more before she can take on the responsibilities of actually being leader of the enormous clan. She's being mentored by Aja, the current leader, to learn the true ways of leadership. Aja can't teach her everything, though. There's a lot she needs to learn on her own. It's not hard to describe Caly. She's mostly independent, almost always wanting to be alone, and most of all, avoid responsibility. She's a procrastinator. Caly is stubborn and loathes doing things that she doesn't choose to do so herself. However, she really can buckle down and get to business if she really needs to. But only if she wants to, of course. Caly doesn't rebel too greatly, considering she knows that there are things she needs to do, and usually she will agree to do things after a great deal of arguing about it. Things that Caly actually enjoys doing consist of sneaking out, doing stupid teen stuff, and most notably, dictating the fashions of others among the clan. Her clanmates don't take her too terribly seriously, but oblige to her wishes to avoid causing issues. Caly isn't bad-natured, she is simply sick of her own clan. It's not hard to get fed up with them when they are always coming to you with their problems and desires! Though she's very annoyed with most of her clanmates, she's does have a great deal of respect for them, especially her elders. Most of her frustrations are taken out on her mentor, Aja, rather than her denmates. Calypso is very friendly to strangers, often too friendly, and thoroughly enjoys conversation with them. After a long-term fling with the menacing sociopath Haru, Caly was able to chase him out of the clan and be rid of his wrath... or so she thinks. Another even more mysterious stranger came to the clan, claiming she was here to allow Caly a chance to "surrender" her leadership position. Calypso, actually determined to try and do something good for the clan after being rid of her abusive ex-mate, didn't intend on giving up her position so easily. Ophelia didn't seem to mind, and made no threats or attempts on Caly's life, though after being forcibly removed by the clan guards many times, she always somehow breached their forces and appeared back in the heart of the clan territory. Growing tired of treating the strange coatl as a problem, Calypso gave in and allowed her to be a part of the clan. Little did the naive clan leader know, Ophelia had been gathering some true forces of her own, such as the deity-like Ethereals that watch over the clan, and even some of the clan members from the inside. After spending time a very long time constantly at the side of Calypso as an attempt to find a way to overthrow her, Ophelia began to behave.. strangely. More strangely than before, as she began to act like a normal dragon would (as opposed to her previous behavior). At last, Caly began to refer to Ophelia as a "friend". It was awfully hard to ignore someone who always seems to be by your side, no matter how quiet. Something that Calypso wasn't expecting was the day that Ophelia brought a newborn coatl hatchling to the clan, claiming it was the child of herself and Calypso... ...And suggesting that Caly take her hand in mateship. Caly had no idea what to do. The hatchling did appear to look strikingly similar to herself, and she was sure there was no way to truly exile Ophelia from the clan, and what would become of the hatchling if she forced Ophelia to leave? It was obvious that Ophelia wasn't a dragon--to everyone, really. And though it didn't seem possible... Caly couldn't help but wonder, "what if"? Calypso thought back to all of her hatchlings she had blindly abandoned before they were even able to recognize her as their mother. It wouldn't be right to pass up an opportunity to raise her own child, would it? "I will." Caly has stepped down from the position of clan leader to raise Pluto, the claimed child of herself and Ophelia. Her duties have been given to the new "council", a group of high positioned dragons in the clan who's wits are about themselves. The council fears that Ophelia has simply manipulated Caly into stepping down from her post, but Aja fears something different for Calypso. That she may have stepped into something bigger than she could ever imagine. (TBC) |

Princess
Fawn Fox Rat - Female - Adult - Non-Vocal Princess has been at Calypso's side since she was a hatchling. She was kept in the Bestiary for awhile before she was given to Caly, where Daisy gave her the name "Princess". Caly never really saw a point in changing it. The small fox is lovable (and really, really adorable) but incredibly ornery. One could say that Caly reprimands Princess in the same way that Aja reprimands her. Claiming this is an easy way to tick Caly off. Princess is usually always by Calypso's side when she's in her den or in the clan, leaving the fox behind when she goes out to do Lightweaver-knows-what. Princess always sleeps with Caly, whether its on top of her or at the foot of Caly's nest. |
