A delightful smell wafts from the kitchens. Today it’s the scent of raspberry pie, so sweet and bright it’s almost possible to taste it. It’s accompanied by the thick smell of honeyed roast meat and potatoes. Kit is back at it again, whipping up a delightful meal for the loyalty. As palace chef, it’s their responsibility to ensure that everyone has plenty to eat. They adore cooking– especially for others. Dessert and confections are their specialty. They’re constantly surrounded by sugary goodness, so it makes sense that they are full of sweetness. It has always been their dream to create culinary masterpieces and present them to others. Thanks to their position amongst the loyalty, they now have access to the finest ingredients. What a treat! Kit’s culinary capabilities are unmatched throughout the kingdom. Both the dragon and their creations are simply delightful. They embody the idea that cooking is an art, and they are proud of it.
Not only does Kit make delicious baked goods, but they also add an additional visual flair to their food. From towering colorful cakes that reach the ceiling to tiny, exquisitely detailed petit-fours, everything is decorated with a flourish. They can do almost anything with a bit of piping and some fondant. Once, they baked several trays of raspberry-filled cupcakes that resembled Princess Hikari! She was so excited when she tasted the cupcakes. She couldn’t fully appreciate her likeness reproduced in sugar, but the cakes were delicious, so she was pleased. Kit especially loves to make desserts for Hikari. She has very sensitive taste and can rattle off ingredients in a heartbeat. It’s very exciting for Kit to try and hide secret flavors in their recipes to see if the princess can detect them. Usually, she can– although Kit has gotten away with a few tricks once or twice. It’s a fun little game the two of them play together.
Kit’s laughter can be heard echoing through the halls of the palace when they prepare food for the entire castle. From breakfast to dinner, it’s clear that they have fun with every meal. They like to make little jokes with their fellow cooks and talk to their utensils. They’ve named all their equipment. Their favorite tool is an old cookie cutter called ‘Lawrence.’ This treasured artifact has belonged to Kit since they were very small. Their mother gave it to them before they went off to culinary school in the big city all by themselves. They take it out sometimes to remind themselves of their family and how far they’ve come. The culinary world can be brutal. Only the strongest dragons survive. Somehow, this wonderful, jolly Spiral managed to maintain their lighthearted spirits throughout all their trials and hardships. That must be what makes their food taste so good: it’s full of love and kindness.
When they’re not whipping up something special in the palace kitchens, Kit spends their time cooking and giving out free food to dragons in need. They make sure to provide tasty treats to hatchlings especially. They believe that everyone deserves to eat and that they should use their talents to give back to the community. Kit does this without telling the loyalty. They fear they might get in trouble for engaging with the rabble. They know it’s the right thing to do and they love seeing how excited the youngest dragons get when they have something tasty for their dinner. The city folk call them ‘Kit the Cook’ and are always pleased to see them when they come by. They’ve become somewhat of a famous figure amongst the commoners. No matter how many critics try their dishes, counts, dukes, or kings, they will always cherish the smiles on the faces of the dragons they feed in the town square more than anything. This is what it truly means to be fulfilled.
