Biography
|
The wildclaw is darting around the room, as though making preparations. She gathers nails, wood, and other tools, before noticing you. "Oh! You're just in time. We're in our home port now, but we're to set sail soon. The Nematic, that is. That's our ship. I'm Pluvia," she rushes around while talking. "I'm the carpenter and deck-swabber. While on the ship I circulate, and swab the decks, while doing so, I search for any damage that is quick to repair. I'm also the fastest bilge pumper available. Sure, Tsunami has powerful water magic, but I'm so attentive and tidy that I've already pumped it before he even notices it happened. Phew. I'm stocking up on supplies we'll need at sea, well, everyone is. Except Tsunami. He never leaves the ship."
A new familiar will bring your clan luck. |

The Nematic Maintaining a new allegiance to the Arcanist and the clan, this group of water dragons, almost as if in a sub-clan, have formed their own ship's crew. Their ship, the Nematic arrives in other lands by port, and is another means of gathering, trading, and profiting. The word nematic itself is an adjective referring to a state of liquid crystal, representing the crew's dual nature of water and association with the Crystal Nook. |

Notes about her role on the ship:
- swabbing keeps the boards from shrinking and letting in water
- keeping wood wet with salt water keeps it from rotting also
- to keep mold and moss from growing
- before swabbing using sand with a holystone to sand the planks to keep splinters from forming and to clean up pitch/tar oozing from the seams
- 4 times a year the ship must be careened, which means beached and pushed onto its side so that the hull can be cleaned and scraped of barnacles. this helps the ship go faster and prevent rot. if not done there's a risk of it breaking up and sinking.
note: these are the only occasions that the boatswain tsunami reluctantly leaves the ship.
