A graduate of Home himself, Grisha was hired on after he graduated as a self-defense professor. He now serves as an assistant professor in Álfheimr Hall and as the department head for weaponry and defense classes. A serious, secretive dragon by nature, Grisha is slow to warm up to other dragons and typically prefers working with his advanced students, but his devotion and unwavering loyalty to Home and to his students is unquestionable.
- Biography
Born to a Dark Sclera Clan, Grisha was exiled soon after his hatching due to persistent weakness in his wings. When he was brought to Home afterwards, it was discovered he was born with very weak wing muscles. With the help of prostheses, he can maintain enough strength in his wings to balance properly, but he will never be able to fly under his own power. Grisha doesn't much mind this - he has an awful fear of heights and much prefers keeping his feet on the ground. As a student at Home, he was sorted into Álfheimr Hall, where, as a student, he gained a reputation for being very drawn to Dark magic. A magically gifted dragon, he disappointed many of his magic professors by choosing to focus largely on weaponry, and his great skill in this field led to his being offered a position as a weaponry professor, which he gladly accepted. Grisha's skill with a sword is legendary around Home, and he quickly rose through the ranks to become the head of the weaponry department.
- Life at Home
Often coming across as mysterious and terse, Grisha is a very private and self-contained dragon. Though he's not much older than his oldest students, he has a world-weary bearing that makes him seem older than he actually is. Grisha prefers to keep himself busy, and when he's not teaching, he can usually be found practicing. He strongly considers weaponry to be a true art form, and tries to introduce this view to his students, encouraging grace and thought rather than brute strength. For this reason, his students from Múspellheimr Hall (the poster children of hack-and-slash styles) can find he takes some getting used to. Many dragons at Home, his fellow professors included, are entirely unaware that Grisha is a nickname - his full name is actually Grigori.
- Relationships
Not among the most approachable of dragons, Grisha's solemn and abrupt personality can make him come across as prickly or coarse, and many dragons find him difficult to talk to at first. He prefers to keep conversation away from himself, and often deflects when talking about his accomplishments or achievements, making him difficult to get to know. Though he certainly is a dragon of few words by nature, Grisha can be very awkward with dragons he doesn't know well, and frequently worries about slipping up or offending by accident. His closest friends, especially his fellow Heads of Hall, know him to be a dragon who greatly enjoys the company of others but who can also be quite self-conscious about himself. This is one reason why Grisha most enjoys teaching his advanced students, who know him better. His students universally appreciate his down-to-earth nature, and he has a subtle wit and a dry sense of humour that is endearing in his own way, making him a beloved professor among his students.
- Personality
Secretive, soft-spoken, and self-contained by nature, Grisha rarely talks about himself or shows his emotions easily. He is valued in staff meetings thanks to his well-thought-through approach and his practical mind, but when it comes to himself, he'll often avoid complaining or voicing objections. He once endured months of eating his friend Salem's pineapple cake on a weekly basis because Salem was under the impression he enjoyed it, even though he desperately loathes pineapple and only said that to avoid offense. Although he often worries quite a bit about social situations and tries to avoid them as a result, he enjoys spending time with the dragons he cares about, and he'll never pass up a chance to tell his students he's proud of them. He's known around Home as a prickly dragon who knows a bit too much about Dark magic and swords, but few dragons can deny that Grisha is a deeply kind dragon...in his own way.
