Dragon Log

Born to the first “mated pair” created by Beltane’s unfortunate magical talent for encouraging amorous unions, this Pearlcatcher and his siblings seemed to have the fates against them from birth, but it appears that luck is with them after all. Despite the way in which they came together, both this Pearlcatcher’s parents are happy to have three sons, and are not neglecting their offspring in any way. This is a good thing, since this particular dragon seems to have a peculiar fascination with Shadow Magic, and an instinct to use it that surpasses even that of his father…

2-14-19: To the shock of many in the Clan, and the distress of his father—although not his mother—this Pearlcatcher attracted an Ashmane Chimera to him less than an hour after his birth. No one is sure why the fierce creature is so enamored of an apparently weak hatchling, but the chimera has refused to leave his chosen’s dragon’s side, not even to go hunting. Even more distressing—or intriguing, depending on which parent the Clan asks—is the fact that since the Chimera, who announced that his name was “Shadow,” initiated a familiar bond, he seems to be blending more and more into the darkness, almost as if he is actually becoming a Shadow himself…

3-9-19: Recently, this young Pearlcatcher has been spending more and more time in the Magical Phenomena part of the caves, honing his skills at "Shadow Magic." The Clan has begun to realize that this particular mage is even more extraordinary then his father, who only travels through shadows, and creates shadow images at need. This Pearlcatcher, on the other hand, can literally create "pocket dimensions"...and send himself and those he is closest to into those dimensions, so that they appear to be only shadows to those around them. Fortunately, as aptly demonstrated with his Ashmane Chimera, he can bring those beings out of those dimensions again. This has been a tremendous relief to the whole Clan, as it is only a matter of time before he learns how to do this to dragons rather than just "lesser" creatures...

5-14-19: While opinions on this Pearlcatcher's extraordinary magic remain mixed, he himself is clearly quire content with both his magic and his familiar. And now, to his increasing delight, "Shadow" has become even more fascinating, as the Ashmane Chimera has Awakened to his true potential at last. It should be interesting to see what the pair do next...
