The poor overworked laboratory manager, Penrith is not a scientist. He is an administrator. An administrator who is required to tell the scientists NO when their work threatens the ethical and moral integrity of the lab, the physical integrity of the lab, or on one notable occasion potentially threatened the structural integrity of the Tempest Spire itself.

One day he will interfere with an experiment slightly too late and risk becoming one of the failed subjects. Penrith is rather sanguine about this. At least it will mean he gets a holiday.
