Journal
Entry One
Moonlight had always wondered about the storms that raged above The Shifting Expanse, so he decided to travel there. But he found it difficult to fly with the rumbling thunder and flashing lightning all around him, so he had to make an emergency landing. Moonlight found himself in a small cave, where he sheltered until the storm had loosened its grip on the land. It wasn't the most relaxing visit, but it was definitely an adventure.
Entry Two:
In his travels, Moonlight visited the elusive Moonspire, a home for dragons that didn't have anywhere else to go. The two guards welcomed him in and he read from their library and talked with the dragons, making a few friends before setting off again. Who knows where else the world would take him?
Entry Three:
Moonlight eventually found himself in the Water Territory at Clan Kemperloche. While there, he learned how to fish and was surprisingly adept at it. This would be an excellent skill to help any clan he visited in the future to feed their members. It also meant he need not ever go hungry as long as he was near a body of water. He found the clan to be very friendly and made many friends while there.
Entry Four:
Somewhere along the way, Moonlight found himself lost in the Starwood Strand. There he stumbled upon a strange sight- there was a whole nest of dragons that were fast asleep! He shook one to wake them up, and decided to hightail it out of there. That was the plan anyways, but he found himself getting very, very sleepy... and so he slept.
It was a good year and a half before he awoke again, brushing the sleep from his eyes. The dragons explained that a curse had descended upon their clan... for long periods of time, for reasons unknown, anyone who is a part of the clan will just hibernate for long periods of time. Moonlight wasn't sure what this could mean, but he
knew he had to leave as soon as possible.
Entry Five:
Traveling from there, Moonlight made his way to the Windswept Plateau, where he was welcomed along with many other travelers to stay for a time. He told them of his previous visit, and the spell that made him sleep so long. When they heard how old he was, they were shocked and didn't believe him because of how young he looked, but most of them shook him off for a dramatic storyteller who had taken a fancy to the hatchling's "Fantasy Section". At first the Fae was angered, but after hearing the tales of everyone else present, he soon realized why there was an air of disbelief.
Entry Six:
Moonlight ended up lost in the Scarred Wasteland for a while, wondering who would want to live here. He found a clan closer to the Tangled Wood at some point and stayed for a little while, deciding to rest before heading back out again.
Entry Seven:
Like many travelers before him, Moonlight journeyed north to the Viridian Labyrinth and stayed for a while in Tanglevine Concourse. The city proper was too crowded for his liking, so he explored the area around it. He learned a lot about the rural folk nearby. A bogsneak taught him about fishing in these dangerous swamps, and a kindly tundra taught him about caring for animals.
Entry Eight:
Back again to the Starfall Isles Moonlight took solace in the clear empty nights where he would gaze at the stars while quietly chattering amongst the other night owls, like Polaris an astrologer studying the stars and his mate Celeste an astronomer reading the stars. Moonlight considered devoting himself to a passion like many of the dragons at this clan did, but what would it be? With a newly ruined sleep schedule Moonlight took off again.
Entry Nine:
Whilst making his way through the Starwood Strand, Moonlight stays with a rather odd clan who only allows him shelter after he's thoroughly interrogated and scrutinized by their strange leader. After she allowed him passage, the other clan members greeted him warmly, but the cold reception was still a rather strong first impression to shake off...
When it was time for him to move on, they gave him a bag to keep souvenirs of his travels in as a parting gift.
Entry Ten:
Once more greeted by the Shifting Expanse, this time Moonlight felt something about the place was different. It was almost... almost like coming home.
Entry Eleven:
Moonlight entered the Foxfire Bramble, which was easy to navigate thanks to his small size. He ended up meeting Shadowbreeze Clan, whose lair was hidden between the thorns and brambles, as well and underground. Some of the dragons living here were secretive, some shy and preferred to keep their distance, but some others were very welcoming and were happy to chat.
The clan also had a huge library and museum. Moonlight met with the High Sorceress Ankhe, who was very wise and happy to share her knowledge in the most varied subjects. She was also used to the come and go of travelers, scholars and distinguished dragons (those who chose the respectable and important role to serve the deity of their choice). The Fae accepted the priestess hospitality and stayed for a while.
Entry Twelve:
Moonlight didn't stay long in the next clan, full of towering beasts he felt nervous and wanted to leave quickly. While the other dragons were nice, he was also warned to not go to the Pox Consulate to the East, lest he be taken by the dragons
Laying in wait there.
Entry Thirteen:
The clan looked very polished and clean. The head dragon, Kae, welcomed him as the first traveler of Stow-On-Side. He was offered a nice hut and found many dragons of unusual colors. The treatment was nice, and for a moment, he contemplated staying and making this his permanent home. However, his heart yearned for adventure still. Maybe he'd come back though.
Entry Fourteen:
On a re-journey of The Viridian Labyrinth Moonlight stumbled upon the Wildwood Clan residing in the heart of the Nature realm. The dragons living there offered him shelter and taught him higher control over his magic. After training his runes began to glow brighter and his senses sharpened. But he didn't stay much longer.
His thirst for exploration and curiosity led him further into the yet undiscovered parts of Sornieth. Leshy - Clan leader did not stop him. He even encouraged little Fae to continue his journey. ''Life exist to expand and evolve, stagnation is the worst state for any form of being. So travel the world, gain knowledge, power, blessings and curses. Upgrade, evolve, until all things acknowledge your claim to divinity. We will meet again, in this form, or another.''
Entry Fifteen:
Once again back in the Star Wood Strand, Moonlight found himself at the foot of a small, bustling town filled with a variety of dragons. He was met with a mystical looking Skydancer who introduced herself as Ophanim, the tour guide of the town, Indifference. He met the townsfolk and shopkeepers, and enjoyed spending his time within the humble town before yearning for adventure once more.
Entry Sixteen:
Moonlight found himself in a clan dominated by spirals. He'd never seen so many of these fun and frantic dragons in one place before! He was having buckets of fun here and he never wanted to leave. The clan leader by the name of Wicked really welcomed him here! He stayed a little bit longer than he maybe should have, but he was given a friend along the way! A friend that will both stay by his side not only out of friendship, but the urge to protect this tiny little dragon on his journey.
Entry Seventeen:
Moonlight had lost count of how long he'd been wandering in the woods. The Shadowed Lands of the Tangled Woods seemed endless. After days of being hungry and lost, he came across a friend from his home lair by the name of Stardust, and they talked long about home. Somehow, the pair stumbled upon a group of dragons who led them to their camp, an odd place known as Shades' Run.
Entry Eighteen:
Clan Nightshade presents a safe place to stay for a while, to catch his breath after so long traveling. No one demands anything of him; he's given room and board and the freedom to wander the city. The only order he's given is to not leave the citadel at night, for his own safety. The gates are closed, of course, and he's not keen on risking the dangers of the Hewn City in the dark.
Still, sometimes he goes out of the hostel just to breathe in the night air, and to stare at the glowing, runic wards encircling the city's walls. It makes him feel safe enough, but in some way he also feels trapped. That's what moves him on, in the end-- if he wanted to trade his freedom for security, he would never have become a traveler in the first place.
Entry Nineteen:
Moonlight had began to feel some great stagnation, like something that the Leshy of the nature clan had spoke to him. Nothing had happened for the longest time, the chaotic arcane energies were building up in his tiny aging body. Dragons like him can be functional immortal, but boredom is the ultimate rot of their minds. Moonlight tried to marry the two loves of storms and internal arcane, and with that he needed to change, to move, to become something new.
He needed to seek something, pray to a wicked god, change himself into a horrible beautiful monster. Anything. And so he whispered a soft prayer to the Arcane God, for destruction, for recreation, for change. And in his dreams, he could feel the eyes of a great entity peering down him.
Moonlight thought it was his god, but he did not know for sure. The lines of himself grow softer and more pliable like mold. His runes began to bleed away from, his throat welled with vomit. It spoke to him of hidden secrets as his mind expanded further, and then collapsed back into himself, and he awoke.
When Moonlight looked his reflection, his in-born runes were gone, and in its place was a purple smear across his mouth.
Entry Twenty:
Moonlight didn't know how long he wandered the Arcane flight after his reawakening, but he was eventually taken in by the Oculus Clan who gave him a place to stay. They weren't quite sure what to do with him so they just let him be until he was ready to talk. Moonlight was grateful for that, once he worked through his feelings about his changes.
He stayed with the clan for some time, and they were friendly enough. But when he joined one of their nightly stargazing sessions he saw a huge meteor cut across the sky. He didn't like the look of it and knew an omen when he saw one. By the time morning rolled around, Moonlight had left.
Entry Twenty-one:
It was hard to figure out exactly where Moonlight wandered to. It was certainly somewhere in the Southern Icefield, perhaps somewhere in the Snowsquall Tundra, closer to the coast. He could hear the sound of the sea as he wandered the forever autumnal trees of this particular region, despite them covered in snow. In this forest, he caught a glimpse of an entrance to a lair before a cold grip caught him. Wind zipped past at speeds almost unnatural until he looked up to his captor, who dropped him off gently at this lair's entrance. A broken Imperial, clad in armor and metal, seemingly holding her together. Once she made sure he was alright, she disappeared between the trees. Apparently danger lurked nearby, so she took off to get rid of whatever threat had entered the woods.
After talking with the guards inside and being told about the Imperial that gave him a fright, he learned about Autumn's Sight. The temperature was warm here, a sharp contrast with how cold it was outside. But it wasn't just the ambient of the lair, but the dragons that lived here too. It was especially evident when Moonlight arrived at Hope's Cove, the center of this lair. A trading hub, hidden away from the snow with direct access to the sea. Where travelers, sailors and merchants all gathered to share stories and rest before their next trip. The stay at the inn was very pleasant, and when it was time to go, a few merchant sailors offered to take him to other lands... If the frigid sea permit.
Entry Twenty-two:
Moonlight arrived at the guest house and signed the visitor's log. It was very pleasant and cozy, even more so when a basket of food was set on the table next to the door. A fathom bid them welcome and introduced themselves as Fokle. Moonlight was told to get comfortable, and let Fokle know if there was anything they needed. He felt very safe, and the views of the surrounding lands were fantastic. He watched the sunset on the porch while listening to the nearby brook and various birds in the surrounding trees. He felt his stay here would be very relaxing, something needed when one traveled the world.
Moonlight stayed for several days, not even noticing the small transformation his body experienced. The mystical forces of the ley lines and the guest house had given him a small change along his belly. Gone was the firebreather, and in its place, he had a pretty capsule. It felt nice, and let him regulate his body temperature more easily, he could use the capsule to cool down or stay warm.
Moonlight was more than satisfied with his stay and had helped Fokle with the many gathering tasks each day. Now, he was ready to continue with his journey, and bid the caretaker and his many creature helpers good bye.
Entry Twenty-three:
Moonlight's next stop was at Starflower Grove, a Light clan that was full of beautiful flowers. Moonlight was fascinated by their beauty, and spent lots of time learning from the two gardeners Hydrangea and Crocus how to take care of a garden. He also found himself learning to bake with Limsa, and he left with a present from them!
Present: Starfall Blossom
Entry Twenty-four:
There was a change in the winds as Moonlight returned to Autumn's Sight. The snowy forest was now shrouded in darkness, but it had never felt more alive as it did now. During his stay this time however, he never saw that Imperial again, instead perhaps the one she had saved him from.
A feral roamed these woods, but thankfully never wandered close to the mouth of the lair where the guards were. When it was time to go, an escort guided him out of the forest so he could continue his journey uninterrupted again.
Entry Twenty-five:
Moonlight arrived at a nature clan where there was already an autumnal mood. Despite the autumnal cold, it was somehow comfortable here. The residents seemed to just go about their lives and not think about tomorrow. One of them was kind enough to give him a place to stay.
They became friends and even had 4 hatchlings together. But the other dragon sadly knew it had no future here. So Moonlight set off again and left the Nature Clan, which he will always have some memories of. He also hopes to see his hatchlings again one day, even though he knows that they will have a good life here.
Entry Twenty-six:
It seems Moonlight found himself at the Shifting Expanse once more. This time he stopped by a lone building in the middle of the desert somewhere near the Wiretangle Walk. Curiosity drove him to enter the building, as he swore this wasn't here the last few times he was in Lightning territory. The building itself didn't look new, however; it was as if the place has been here for a while, but attempts to refurbish it have been made.
The building turned out to be a tavern, and it seemed business was booming. Moonlight found an empty seat right by the counter and was almost instantly greeted by the Mirror behind the counter. After eating a full meal and chatting with a few of the patrons he was sitting next to, Moonlight carried on with his travels.
Entry Twenty-seven:
Entering the forests of Roseveil Hollow was like stepping into a dream. As Moonlight fluttered between the trees, he felt the sense of being watched prickling his scales. Soon, he met the Hollow’s guide, who regarded him with a stern, wary glare as he questioned the purpose of his visit.
Moonlight explained his love for exploration, his curiosity about the pearl roses, and his desire to hear the famed Evensong. The guide’s eyes narrowed at first, but he eventually nodded, impressed by Moonlight’s earnestness. Under Fade’s watchful guidance, Moonlight visited the heart of the Hollow, where pearl roses shimmered faintly, waiting for the rare kiss of moonlight to bloom. He listened intently as Fade shared the traditions of tending these rare treasures.
One evening, as the stars began to glitter through the canopy, Moonlight attended his first Evensong. Dragons of the Hollow gathered in a glade illuminated by soft, ethereal lights; the melodies they sang, haunting. Moonlight closed his eyes, letting the music seep into his soul. As the performance concluded, Moonlight gathered his things and followed the guide out of the Hollow to continue his journey.
