Azari was born to the unusually small and plain king of a mighty ice flight and his gorgeous consort- a black mirror by the name of Rydrean and a carmine spiral named Morgana, respectively. Morgana was disappointed with her son from the beginning, as she was vain, only using Rydrean to get to the throne. When Azari opened his eyes to his mother and father, a gasp escaped both their mouths. His eyes were a vibrant, shining magenta, influenced by the arcane energies to the north. He was almost exiled then and there, Morgana being cold enough to put a helpless hatchling out on the lonely ice by himself, but Rydrean just barely convinced Morgana to keep him. This put even more pressure on Azari as he grew, and he scrambled to prove himself to his parents and to the public eye.

He just couldn't help it- dreams filled his head of a different place and time. The stars fascinated him, the way they connected and sparkled and whispered in his ears- sometimes, at night, if he focused, he could feel the purple energy pulling at him, curling around him and telling him things of the future, walking with him in his dreams, promising him a better life if only he could get out of here. He became secretly interested in arcane magic, practicing spells and creating potions. Morgana immediately banished him after discovering this, and grew ever-hateful of the Arcanist. Azari, however, was not reluctant to run away and leave all he had ever known, for he had never really known it anyway.
