Bethera was less born and more found, a singular egg left nestled in the soft grass of the Starwood Strand. She grew up between the Crystalspine Reaches, the enchanted forests of her birth, and the expansive seas of Sornieth, nurtured by magic and the gentle whispering of the stars. From very early childhood, she taught herself practically everything- how to forage, how to fend for herself, how to fly- and eventually spent some time with various nomadic dragon clans and wandering Beastclans. It was through these encounters that she learned to speak, both in draconic tongue and snippets of various other languages. But out of all the things she learned from them her favorite was potion making. She adored the shifting colors, the complex recipes and delicate hand that they took- and of course, all the magical things they could do.

It was after many years of being alone that she met Azari, abdicator to the throne of a southern kingdom who clearly felt more at home under Arcane influence. She could sense that he was just like her, in some sense- even surrounded by a bustling city, royalty and servants, he was perfectly and completely alone. Bethera showed Azari a different side to magic- far from the books and the incantations he had so laboriously studied, the purest magic came from the heart. Azari, on the other hand, taught Bethera all he had learned about the art of potion making from the books that she could not read. Slowly but surely, they fell in love. Together, they agreed to create a place where the misfits and the outcasts and the utterly unusual could find a save haven away from the prying eyes of the world.
