Biography
For many years, Dove honed her skills as the clan healer both in the Coliseum and out. She excelled at her job and held no interest in anything that wasn't a neater suture, or a better poultice to soothe burns, or a more efficient tea to treat the fever. Dove was so caught up in her studies that it barely registered when her daughters declared they were off to serve the deity.
Not to say she was cold or unfeeling. Very much the opposite - Dove cared for everyone in the clan as if they were her own children. Her warmth and competence made her a clan favorite, but if anyone so much as coughed in her presence, she had unguents and treatments at the ready to keep her extended family safe and healthy. Unless she was in the Coliseum.
When Dove entered the Coli, she became shrewd and calculating. She was skilled at casting healing spells as she ducked and wove around enemies. With her supply of healing potions to supplement her spellcraft, she kept her charges from harm at all costs. Yet, when spectators watched Dove in the fighting arena, they cheered her actions with fervor, as she was happy to take a hit from the enemy if it meant her companions went unscathed. The fans adored her shrewd fighting style.
One day, she was gathering fresh herbs to replace the dusty, over-dried ones in her stores, when a pale Skydancer tumbled to the ground before her. Dove rushed to the youth's side and asked, "Are you harmed? Is any part of you hurting?" of the dainty newcomer.
"I...I think I'm okay," the youngling admitted with a grimace. She flexed her wings and stretched her limbs to make sure she spoke truth, then gave a sheepish smile to Dove as she admitted, "I got caught in a rougher gale than i realized. It quite turned me upside-down. My name is Lustre," she introduced herself.
Dove nodded, "Good to meet you, Lustre. Now, if you don't mind," she hustled the youth toward Dove's neat cottage, "I'd like to make sure you are quite fine. Follow, please," she demanded kindly as she led her into the tiny home.
As Dove examined the newcomer, she quietly asked questions of the young dragon. When the exam was finished and Dove could declare Lustre was quite hale, the pale dragon was still comfortably sitting in Dove's parlor asking questions about the herbs and syrups she saw lining the shelves. Dove realized the youth was as interested in healing as she was, saw a spark in Lustre's eyes that she remembered feeling when she was also quite young. That was the day she acquired her first apprentice.
