Zarela

Lengthy discussions with Lancer, and then eventually Vaun, had led to Zarela joining the clan. Finally settled in, she reflected on that last conversation.

"It could have been much easier than this.." Vaun had drawled at her, the censure clear enough in his eyes.
"Yes. That it could have." She had no intention of giving any ground here. Her business was her own.
"And you think I have time for such games?" Vaun's temper showing slightly in the grip of his claws on the ground beneath him.
"No." Zarela sniffed. "And quite frankly, neither do I." This time she did not hide the bite from her tone.
"You sought me out, you asked me here. Not the other way around. And for what? An interrogation?" She paused here to choose her next words somewhat carefully. "You either intend to employ me or you do not. But I will not sit here and have my past dragged over. When it is firstly, nothing related to the job offered, and secondly none of your business or concern."
Standing to leave and throwing all caution to the wind, she said "Judge me on my skill and ability, what I can bring to this clan you seek to make. If not, then we're done here."
Without hesitation she turned to leave.

She felt the stirring of the air behind her as the two Imperials shifted their positions.
She'd barely raised her wings to take flight when she heard the quiet affirmation from Vaun. "You start tomorrow. Be prepared."
Smiling to herself, she nodded. "Always, Sir."



Her foul mood permeated the camp, hatchlings and adults alike shying from her presence. Infuriated would be an understatement, and it shone out of her fiery eyes with no restraint at all. Her anger fuelled her entirely, incinerating the brief flashes of hurt she refused to acknowledge.

He'd taken another female to nest. Again. But her he had refused on multiple occasions, and why? All because she hadn't maxed out her training! He knew her strengths, prided her on her minimal weaknesses, used her as a shining example in training talks with the youngsters... and yet he still refused her!

Watching him with his latest claimed firstborn across the flames of the campfire, she silently seethed.
"You'll rue your choices dear leader," her minds voice snarled. "I will become the strongest female you know. The fastest. The most lethal. And then....then I shall refuse you." She rose turning towards the forest and leaving without a word. Time to train.
