Biography
~From the desk of Chickweed Caraway~
Dinara / Clan Hessonite
═══════════════════════════
━ My Location: ━ Dragonhome, boardering the shattered plain. It’s scenic, but in a very dry sort of way. I’m starting to forget when green looks like. ━ Crimes: ━ Unnknown. Finding something on Dinara would be very amusing. If my theory pans out, and she does want to usurp a duchess (or even a prince for that matter) for their position, I suppose that would count as treason. Unfortunately, I have little evidence to support my theory, but perhaps she’ll let somethign slip. ━ Questions: ━ Dinara is an ambitious dragon and I believe she’d like to elevate her social rank, maybe even to the position of a duchess. Why would she want to do this though, and what woudl she do if she got there? Her Mirror body guard is unerves me, expecially since he never speaks. Why does a jovial dragon like Dinara keep him so close to her? (Layout by Mask) |
━ NOTES ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Ah, it feels so good to be back in civilization. Chiron had to leave almost immediately after dropping me off, but my new hostess, Dinara Hessonite, has been the picture of hospitality. She greeted me jovially at the entrance of her palatial cave, and showed me to the most opulent room I’ve ever seen. It’s secure as well. As a Marchioness in her princedom, Dinara has plenty of guards for her lair, and while it isn’t the most low-profile place to hide, it will be well defended. Perhaps that will be enough to keep Corriveau’s minions at bay. I do wonder why she agreed to shelter me, though. It’s not like a little dragon like me can repay her for taking the risk .
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Update: Dinara invited me to dine with her (and her creepy body guard) last tonight. She sat me down to an incredibly rich meal and inquired about my health and kept prodding me to eat more. Then things became more interesting. She said that she’d heard about my little notebook and asked I’d be willing to make one just for her. And that’s when I realized why Dinara was so eager to house me in the first place. She wants me to spy for her. Chiron likely told her about my habit of taking notes on other dragons and Dinara filled in the rest herself. I accepted, of course. It’s not like I have choice, but I do wish Chiron had kept his mouth shut. Dinara wants me to especially observant during the upcoming Stonebreaker’s Ceremony celebration she’s been planning, and I do wonder what she’s going to do with the information. Maybe she wants to make a move to become a duchess. |
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Update: I’ve been doing my best to learn the names of the dragons in the Crystal Court. There’s six princedoms, each with a prince or princess, who are easy enough to remember, but I get mixed up with the dukes and marchionesses. As far as this princedom goes, Dinara falls beneath Prince Jarosite and Duchess Longshore in authority. I still hold me my theory that Dinara may want to advance her rank, but I can’t be sure.
In the mean time, I’ve been floating around the cave and the surrounding town, watching and listening as Dinara requested. With so many dragons fleeing unrest in the Ashfall Waste, there’s plenty of things to learn.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Update: I dined with Dinara (and her creepy body guard) again to report about what I’ve learned and discuss her Stonebreaker’s party. We laughed at some of the gossip together, and she seemed particularly interested in my account of a young Fire Wildclaw who moved into town not long ago, and she decided to recruit him to her kitchen staff.
She also told me to keep an ear out for visitors who promote uniting the princedoms. Apparently, there’s a dragon who’s been advocating for unification for the past few years, but has recently begun stirring up real trouble and recruiting an army. Dinara didn’t sound to concerned, but I’ll do as she asked.
For my own security, it’s imperative that I please my host.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Update: Dinara’s party for the Stonebreaker’s Ceremony went smoothly at first. She greeted and charmed at the front, and I did my best to make small talk with the guests.
Unfortunately, the Crystal Court dragons didn’t want much to do with a shabby little dragon with myself, but it wasn’t too bad until Dinara received some startling news from a courier. The problem dragon we discussed earlier had managed to hire a mercenary troupe strong enough to challenge Prince Breccia directly. That, and the prince had surrendered.
Dinara read the prince’s letter out loud for the guests. The prince was ordering his subjects to surrender as well, describing how Duchess Longshore had agreed and followed suit. When she finished, Dinara shoved the letter away and declared that she would not surrender, and that as long as Clan Hessonite stood strong, the dragons of the Fifth Princedom would always have a place to go.
It was quite impressive, really. The dragons cheered and toasted Dinara as she burned the letter in defiance.
She left immediately to draft letters to invite anyone dissatisfied with the prince’s surrender to come to Clan Hessonite and defeat the invaders together. I wonder if she’ll actually be able to do it.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Update: Letters travel fast here. Dragons from the princedom have already begun arriving, and Dinara only send out her proclamation two nights ago.
This is encouraging for Dinara, but it makes me nervous. The influx of dragons will make it easier for Corriveau’s minions to enter the town unnoticed, and I swear that I caught sight of the Mirror who attacked me in Water territory.
I fled into Dinara’s cave before I got a decent look, but I’m not taking any chances. With an incoming army and an enemy in the crowd, I think It’s time I move on.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Update: I wrote to Chiron about my predicament and he said he’d need a week or so to find a new place to hide me. At least he’s still willing to help.
Dinara didn’t take it as well. When I told her of my intentions to leave, she offered me a salary and a position on her staff to convince me to stay. This is flattering, but it’s not worth my neck. That Obelisk will find a way through her guards eventually.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Update: Chiron arrived last night with the news that the mercenaries are now less than a two day flight away. It’s a good thing I’m getting out now.
Dinara bid me farewell over yet another heavy meal, offering me double the salary she’d previously set, but I had to refuse her.
She still intendeds to make a stand for independence, and I suppose as leader of the largest independent town in the princedom, that makes her the princess now. I do wish her well, though I wonder if she’ll live through the season.
