Dinara was open and jovial from the start, but Flytrap was always a step behind her, tense and silent, usually tasting the air with his tongue. At first, I thought he was a typical bodyguard, bought and paid for, but it’s clear that his motivations run deeper.

Once, when I decided to cancel an appointment he Dinara, Flytrap appeared outside of my room with the delightful message that janitor would have to stop by to scrape my feathers of the walls if I didn’t attend.

When I informed Dinara about the incident, she laughed and said that Flytrap was a little overprotective. She’s wrong about that one. He’s not overprotective, he’s a fanatic, and I nearly pity those poor dragons planning on deposing his mistress.
