Biography

Mate: Witted

A Shadow-aligned Spiral male came across a Plague-alined female during his travels to the Wyrmwound. The purpose of his travels was to collect samples of the Wyrmwound's liquid to bring back to his lab for analysis. However, his trip back to his lair was delayed; as the female Wildclaw (whom he had become smitten with) presented him with a clutch of three eggs; so, he decided to stay with the female- who's name was Thunder- in order to help her raise their unplanned hatchlings.

Unfortunately, the male- Shinspir- had been clumsy with the vial of Wyrmwound liquid one day, and had forgotten to wash it off of his forepaws before handling the eggs. The contact between the foul-smelling liquid and the eggshells produced a loud hissing and made a sulphurous cloud of steam. Both parents panicked and did their best to wipe the apparently corrosive liquid from the close-to-hatching eggs as fast and as carefully as they could.

When the time came for the eggs to hatch, only one did so; the hatchlings in the other two had been altered beyond a recognizable Dragon species and had died in the process. Shinspir and Thunder mourned the loss of the two tiny lives, but rejoiced for the one tiny life that they had been given. Shinspir named the female hatchling Panic, for the emotion that he and his mate felt when they thought that none of their eggs would hatch after the accident.

Nothing seemed unusual about the hatchling until she lost her hatchling teeth. A pair of elongated, sharp, curved canine teeth emerged, along with a craving for blood. Panic's parents adapted surprisingly well; bringing the hatchling live prey until she was old enough and big enough to hunt on her own. When Panic was a year old, her parents decided to move to the Blacksand Annex in the lands of the Flamecaller. It was here that she discovered her knack for mind control.

Once she turned three, she left her parents' clan and became a nomad for a while; wandering between different lairs, infecting other Dragons and stealing food and trinkets along the way and finding her familiar; a Runic Bat that she named Rosena.

It wasn't until she was ten years old that she found a settlement that she wanted to stay in. She settled in nicely to the light-based town; even finding a mate in the town's then-Plague Representative and decided to start having hatchlings of her own, some of which would undoubtedly inherit her Vampire-like tendencies. The town's Royal alchemist- Samir- coined the term Vampira to describe Panic's unusual habits and appearance and the term stuck. He went on to fully describe and catalog what he believed was a new subspecies of Dragon.

Panic has also been known to select unsuspecting Dragons (and sometimes even hatchlings) living within Norwal as targets for feeding and conversion based off of their coloring and expressed genes. She will often stalk her selected victim while remaining undetected for weeks- sometimes months- until she makes her move. One well-placed bite to the victim's neck and an injection of saliva containing blood thinner and the vampiric bacteria is all that is needed in order for the target Dragon/Hatchling to be converted to a Vampira. She often used her position of power as Norwal's mayor to get invited into the home(s) of her target(s) under the guise of a friendly visit so that there's no signs of forced entry (until Queen Aerinite found out and immediately stripped Panic of her Mayoral duties and all that came with them without consulting her mate Synali). Panic will then bide her time with her victim(s) until she decides to activate her hypnotizing powers in preparation to feed. The only breed of Dragon off of Panic's radar are Faes; as she considers their blood to be too sweet-tasting for her liking.

Because of her gross abuse of political power and comitting numerous crimes against the citizens she had sworn to protect, Panic has been forcfully exiled from Norwal with the lifelong bounty over her head that will be active should she ever be spotted close to the town's border by anyone; resident or visitor. Her new occupation is serving as a Patrol Dragon in her new home in The Grotto.

Her most notable victim is Marlene, who went from being a friendly florist to a travelling serial killer/converter after she was bitten. She was also the one to discover Prowler, who had hidden himself just outside The Grotto's entrance one dark night and ended up helping him and the notoriously antisocial Pearlcatcher Crypt bond... purely out of a need of entertainment. She is also Gardor's adopted mother and is the one who found and named him.

(1) "Panic is a very, very interesting dragon indeed. Frankly, originally I only chose her because her design was pretty interesting to me. I don't see Piebald/Paint dragons often, though Obsidian always looks good with those two genes in my opinion. But reading into her lore, it's super interesting what you've done with her to be honest. Being altered by the liquid of the Wyrmwound, becoming a vampire as a result, that's something I wouldn't really have thought of. But yeah, Panic is just a very interesting dragon, both design- and lorewise." - Vanta22exual

(2) "I need to point our your Panic; she's lovely! Red, black and white are my favourite colours, she was an obvious pick, hah. I like how simple her apparel is, yet works so well! And swirl eyes on spirals are always the best." - EdmoUniverse

(3) "Okay, so I just read, "Everyone's favorite vampire pirate" and I clicked faster than I thought I could! xD (Though a bit of a missed opportunity I think to combine vampire and pirate into vampirate! >xD But, it's not my lair! Up to you!) Her name is Panic, and I love how her eyes emulate confusion and such paranoid, feverish energy echoing her name, which ties well into her lore. Her otherwise cow-like look with piebald and paint, is overtaken by her red runes, red rose and black and red bandanna. Plus those bloody bandages. :) Not your conventional mangy pirate OR fancy vampire.
Lore-wise, I like the origin of her name, and her mind-control power which is classically vampiric. :D She is a sneaky thief and a blood-thirsty girl. I luff her! Easily my top favorite!" - QueenNoodles
