Biography

Primary mate: Crypt

Despite hatching in the Wispwillow Grove and having the eye color to mark him as a Shadow Flight Dragon, Prowler strangely enough does not possess Shadow magic; instead, he inherited his fire-hatched, Spiral father’s ability to use fire magic. Though weaker than his father's, Prowler- then an unnamed hatchling- still possessed the power of the flame. Because his Uncommon Shadow eyes contradicted his fire-based magic, the hatchling was ostricized from his birth clan as soon as he was able to fend for himself at the word of the clan's elders. His father Soeccra was heartbroken, but his Imperial mother Archeos seemed to be strangly unbothered. His two younger sisters- both also unnamed- left with him out an act of solidarity.

After three weeks together living on their own within the Shadowbinder's lands, the three siblings felt that they should start to think about parting ways; as they were each starting to have an idea of what they wanted out of life. The bright-eyed sister was the first to depart from the trio; leaving for the lush lands of the Gladekeeper in order to further hone her skills in witchcraft, fortune-telling, and herbology (rumor has it that she's currently living in a decent-sized clan in the Everbloom Gardens). Meanwhile, the sole brother and the youngest sister opted instead to remain travelling together for the time being.

The remaining two siblings lived the lives of nomadic thieves who stole not for the poorer Dragons, but instead for themselves. While his Spiral Sister did nothing more than loot merchant caravans, the Spiral Brother quickly developed a name for himself as a silent, quick, brutal killer to go along with his sister's thieving reputation. His victims were not only the merchant caravans that he hit with his sister, but also any nearby camp that could've belonged to a traveller, camper, or fellow thief. The Spiral Brother was content with this way of living; as to him, life seemed too mundane, repetitive, and lacking variety (literally; as the Brother could only see in tones of red, orange, yellow, brown, and grey).

It wasn't until the Brother happened across a female Pearlcatcher (that he had been following for months on account of a few whispers that she was wealthy) did things change for the Brother. He watched- from a distance and safely hidden behind a hood and some thick local plantlife- as the ram-horned Pearlcatcher almost kindly greeted a shadow-aligned male Obelisk and a female Plague-aligned Spiral with unsually long canine teeth. It was that very Dragon who was the one to call out the Brother's presence.

"Your clothing, scent cloaking, and hiding don't fool me, Stranger." The female Spiral called out into the night with a laugh as her oddly forked tongue interrupted the smirk on her lips. "Unfortunately for you, I see in thermal vision and boyyyyyy you are hooooooooot like a wildfire surrounded by ice floes."

She paused as her two companions were now following the female Spiral's gaze to where Prowler had (apparently attepted to) concealed himself.

"You also have fiery leaves and butterflies coming up from where your hiding." The female Pearlcatcher remarked flatly.

"I don't know how bright you are, but clearly not very if you didn't realize your magic is running amok. Come on out, Fire Dragon." The male Obelisk rumbled. "Did you annoy a Nature or Arcane-aligned Shaman or something to have such a curse?"

"Not quite." A new, soft feminine voice muttered as another female Spiral covered in bright glowing pastel runes emerged from the entrance behind the already present trio. "Their life-force reads of Shadow but their mana reads instead of Fire- weak Fire- but still Fire magic nonetheless. Yes, their magic is very unstable, but not naturally. For watever reason, someone has placed a generational magical curse on his bloodline. It makes it so that the target's magic and eyes don't match up and the resulting magic is highly unstable or not present all together when it should be."

It was here that the Brother decided to step out from his spot and pull his famous red hood back to reveal his uncommon Shadow eyes. At this, the Pearlcatcher let out an enraged hiss and immediately restrained him using her Shadow magic.

"Ghost, with all due respect, he is a stranger and therefore a possible threat." The Pearlcatcher replied.

"Not anymore. I sense that he's more intrigued; his original goal of briging harm, gone like smoke in the wind. Allow him into our settlement. After all, he's cursed like us."

The Pearlcatcher rubbed her horn as she eyed the male Spiral suspiciously.

"Where's Aloadae, Gardor?" She asked the male Obelisk.

"She's on a bug-gathering trip with Jeckyll and has been since last night. They won't be back until sunrise." Came Gardor's response.

The Pearlcatcher quietly muttered to herself something about "how having only one Skydancer and too many crazy, rejected Spirals was going to be a huge security concern" and tightened the magicked restraints that bound all of the Brother's limbs to his serpentine body.

"Fine. I'll take him back with us and then I'll make him sit in a room first thing in the morning with Aloadae- after she returns- while I question him. Let's all head back. Panic, you are to remain here on patrol. You are welcome to satisfy your... craving if you come across any unwelcome guests."

The Spiral who had exposed the Brother originally dipped her head slightly and stepped to the side to allow for the others to pass by; a dangerously playful smirk appearing across her lips as the Pearlcatcher passed her with the Brother and he could’ve sworn that he saw gears turning away within the Plague Spiral's head.

Without getting a chance to get a word in to the group of strange Dragons or to go back and tell his sister what had happened, the Brother (having since been named 'Prowler' by Ghost) ended up settling into The Grotto quite nicely as Panic's patrol partner and most shockingly of all; as Crypt's mate.
