If she worked hard, and listened to her teachers, perhaps her mother would come visit.

She'd never seen them beyond the day she hatched in her lonely nest of one, but the Order assured she was simply too busy to look after a young hatchling, but would still be very proud of her.

She wasn't allowed to read all the books, but could read most of them! They trusted her to follow the instructions and record the reactions, and Cerulia did so with pride. Sometimes it was messy when the subjects struggled and tried to escape her claws, but that was just because they didn't know how important the work was!

Boss had told her off from trying to talk to one of them, as they couldn't understand. They weren't smart like they were. More like lizards than real dragons. Which made sense! Those things never did much more than foam or growl and did silly things like cutting themselves on her claws when they wouldn't get hurt if they just sat still like she said.

Anyat never really bothered to come see her either, too busy with his important work, but Halwen had come sometimes, before she was trusted to do her job. He'd stopped coming when she happily told him of all the hard work she was doing, all the things they were learning!

He looked disgusted. Though Anyat always said the Tundra was weird and not very bright.
Maybe she could think of a way to help him be more clear headed? Boss seemed to think they wouldn't need it, but it was a good idea.

She couldn't wait until they figured it out and had something to show the big bosses, and Mom. They'd be so pleased, according to Boss.
