From the moment he hatched, Anyat was told he was special.
From the moment he hatched, Halwen was told Anyat was special.

The unfairness wasn't quite as obvious at first. His father would sit with him and talk about how even if they didn't have the extra power themselves, they were still helpful support. Still part of the family, still important in their own ways. Able to easily fit in with any older clan or lair and relate with the 'normal' power standards. When the siblings were all grown though, his father had moved on. Where, he did not know, but the word in the lair was he had gone off to serve the Eleven. Forever out of his reach so long as he did not also go to the Eleven.

He felt no need to go to them, though the constant feeling of being lesser, unwanted and unnecessary did make him wish his baby sister had been the one to survive the hatching instead of himself. Or that she had also survived and been 'weaker' like him. He sometimes still speaks to her, the loving sibling he never had.

What the clan planned to do never felt right to him, though at first he dismissed the feeling. Take dragons with new, strange powers and turn them to their cause. Of course the cause wasn't really told to him. He'd never be one of the inner circle as one of the 'old' breed as they sometimes called it. No matter how good he got at convincing a dragon to his side, how well he could concoct potions to disorient or poison his targets. No matter how hard he tried, big brutish Anyat would always be better because of inborn power.

Slowly his desperation to be part of the inner circle faded as time proved he would never be enough. Even the dragons he took got the privilege, yet he never would. So his direction changed. If he was so useless, they could do without his skills.

If Anyat was so great, the useless Tundra's sabotage would have no effect, right?
"I'd be worried if I were you. Dishonest dragons are afoot..."
