Biography

Hermus
Port Guard | Bully | Ambitious
earthmid.png
Hermus initially visited Greenport as a part of his Search. Even though he didn't find what he was looking for there, he enjoyed the city and decided to return after he found his charge. He returned in the middle of the restructuring of the Guard and decided to join it in hopes of ranking up quickly during the upheaval. He supported Handel through the change and gained his trust, allowing him to take a high rank very early on in his career.

Hermus abuses his position as much as he can get away with - and he can get away with a lot. As a high ranking member of the guard, he's able to not only bully citizens and tourists, but also guards below him. Despite the amount of power he wields, though, he's jealous of those above him. His goal is to one day take over the guard after Handel dies or retires. Though he may not be popular enough amongst his fellow guardsdrake to take that position easily...

Did you hear?
"It's no secret that Hermus bullies people with his power, but how does he get away with it? Personally, I think he bribes Handel to look the other way. Windsinger knows the captain has his own vices." -Unknown

I tend to struggle with metallic (as it always looks a little unnatural to me) but you really sell it here - it makes him pop out so distinctly from within all the apparel. I'd never think to pair those minty greens with deep reds, what a unique and pleasing combo! The armor + mask + huge cleaver really sells the "bullying guard" persona. Side note: love the name Hermus!

Bad cop without a good cop, huh? Sounds like trouble. I certainly wouldn't get along with this guy, but every good story needs a villain and his outfit is absolutely spectacular, so he can claim a spot on the list. You know what's really strange? Usually I'm not a huge fan of neither of his genes, but here? All of them truly shine. Extra kudos not only for putting a cutesy gene such as Lace on a tough, no-nonsense, rowdy cop but also for making it work. Fabulously.

My favorite part, though? The outfit. Complex, layered, perfectly fitting for the particular character. The whole dragon reminds me on something straight from Terry Pratchett's books and I just...love those fantasy vibes so much.

Elsa was close, but I think that Hermus is my favorite! I love how the warrior equipment all goes together so well, and his colors are great. I could definitely see him blustering about and throwing around his size to intimidate others.

Oh he's a baaaad guy. A real piece of work. Look at that attire! I especially like the added touches of the rogue mask, cleaver and the bloodied bandages. He could easily be mistaken for a veteran warrior... but those little pieces of apparel give the subtle 'oh, no, this guy is trouble' vibe. His spruce lace is a surprising addition, but it evens out the brown of his wings and ties it in with his primary, giving him a cool, near icy look, like permafrost. 10/10, wouldn't mess with this guy.

Wow, you have a lot of well-dressed dragons; I loved the outfits of pretty much all the dragons in Hermus' tab (great colour combinations!). I was drawn to Hermus from the start though. I really like his outfit and how his genes work particularly well with it; the contrast between the deep red and cooler, light green is wonderful.

This man’s flavour text is very snappy omg. Bad cop without a good cop is serving so much character. Beyond that, these red browns pair beautifully with the dark teal colour of his genes, the hue feels like it contrasts a lot but the more dark dull saturation of both colours makes it all work together. I am obsessed with the lace tert, it looks less like and more like some heraldry or ornamental armour , it’s awesome. Once again your layering is out of this world and creates so many cool spots for the eyes to rest at

See, here's another moment where I thought Hermus was just a pretty looking dragon. His subdued mint accents go really well with the moments of dark crimson, and I like his layered black-browns and black-purples as well. Just a really smooth, well-done colour palette and a solid, sensible outfit. BUT THEN I reaD HIS BIO and suddenly I understand his face-hiding mask and skullcap, the torn clothes of a dragon who doesnt really care about lookin nice, and that hefty cleaver--ah, this is a scoundrel of a dragon. I don't know how I didn't see it before, but now its unmistakable.
