Dart was originally a wandering rogue in the Scarred Wasteland. He was highly independent and capable of fending for himself, until one day he was injured trying to evade a pack of mirrors. The wound only worsened with time and made him feverish. It was with desperation that Dart stumbled into an Arcane clan near the border of Plague and attempted to rob its store. The key word is attempted. Injured as he was, Dart was easily restrained; but despite the shopkeepers being understandable sour, they were merciful, and nursed him back to health. The attempt didn't go without consequence, though. The shopkeepers' father, Actius, punished Dart with... community service, which took him completely by surprise. Either way he dutifully cleaned around with the intention of returning to Plague as soon as his debt was paid. And then he fell in love. Saphyn, the nicer one of the shopkeepers, always stuck around to playfully tease him as he swept the floors or whatnot. Always joking how they got a "tough disease lover" to clean up, and it was funny watching a "brooding edgelord type" hustle around all day. She'd even make fun of his name for sounding stupid, to which he'd cry "It's Plague naming conventions! It's culture, dammit!". Irritating as it was, Dart couldn't snap at her- totally just because she saved his life, and totally not because the less nice shopkeeper- Saphyn's overprotective brother Kierin- kept throwing glares his way. Either way, his annoyance slowly chipped away into begrudging acceptance, and then companionship, and then finally, love. Though it took quite a while to earn Kierin's approval. By the time Dart's debt was paid, he was surprised to find just how much he dreaded the thought of leaving. But just as he was about to break his and Saphyn's hearts, Dart was given a chance to stay. He gratefully took the offer and began work under Actius as an archer. He quickly proved his talent and earned Actius' respect, eventually becoming the second-in-command. Nowadays Dart is content with where he is. He and Saphyn even became mates and his daughter is his whole entire world. His whole tough guy persona just shatters around her (though everyone knows it's fake anyways). Saphyn still teases him sometimes; she used to call him "dear" instead of Dart to irritate him, but now it's just a sweet term of endearment.
