It didn't matter to NU, however, since as soon as he left his partner behind, he only had the power of the sample in mind.

As they arrived at the area of investigation, NU made sure they were all scattered around with the swarm of infected around them, with the only way out be fighting.
While his plan was executed to near perfection, one of the team members along two other dragons managed to triumph the army of undead. His last resort was to inject himself with the virus given to him by his fellow scientist and fake his death by letting the infected have their way with his mortal body to the eyes of his team.

What they didn't know, however, is that this was the activator to the virus.

When NU opened his eyes after what felt like forever, he noticed that the infected were all taken care of, and the team was long gone - and his body feels better than ever. All the missing flesh, as well as the scars on his body, there was not a single trace of it but dried blood staining flawless, smooth scales and fur.
