At first glance, one would think that Innes is an Emperor. After a moment, they'd realize two severe flaws with that theory: Innes only has one head, and he's far too coherent for the mindless beasts everyone sees Emperors to be.

The best descriptor for Innes would be a bodily shell full of shade, choosing to think and act per its recommendations rather than his own. Innes himself seems to think of this as perfectly normal; after all, he can't recall much of his life prior to becoming a shade beast. The cold seems to follow him nearly everywhere, and areas of his body are often covered in a thin frost. Some have claimed to see his wounds heal through freezing rather than scarring.

The attitude Innes puts forth is one of apathy, choosing to ignore simple pleasantries that bear no benefit to him. However, this doesn't mean he's a heartless creature. Of the handful of acquaintances Innes has collected, he would gladly give his life for any of them if he could. All things considered, Innes doesn't seem to understand that what he's become isn't a normal occurrence, and refuses to believe anyone who tells him otherwise.

On the other hand, maybe he's already painfully aware, and is choosing to ignore it outright.
