Shiro -- The Budding Scholar -- A relatively small coatl strikes a path down a winding trail thru the Twisted Woods. Or, well, he at least tries - until a small animal that runs across the road catches his eye. He stumbles and goes to run after the critter - though before he can get very far, he finds himself lifted up off the ground by his caretaker, a large motherly Manticore. He pouts and kicks his feet a little - though she puts him down and nudges him along, reminding him to not stray far from the path... |

Youthful and raring to go, Shiro is a relatively young Coatl who aspires to be a great scholar. He travels across the world periodically, learning all that he can from all the different dragons and clans that he runs across; before returning to his home, Himawari Keep - to record and archive his findings. For being such an active coatl, however, one would never guess at first glance that he actually is quite ill, with the Nosos Virus. This tenacity of his does come to a fault, however, for he doesn't really take as good of care of himself as he really should.
Being a Carrier, the Nosos Virus hasn't affected him quite as severely as it could've - the main symptoms he really deals with is muscle pains, and being prone to sniffles and sneezing - especially when there's a lot of pollen in the air. On an occasion he might have a spell of fatigue, especially if the pollen's really getting to him, though he otherwise is generally full of energy.
Additionally, Shiro is a bit of a runt. It never was really apparent when he was just a little kiddo - but as time went on, it became quite apparent that he was much smaller than his brothers and sisters, and that it wasn't going to change anytime soon. As a result, he looks a hint younger than he actually is - though he never really lets his size get to him. Some dragons theorize that the Nosos Virus may be to blame for his small stature, but no one really knows!
That aside, however - Shiro is a surprisingly competent traveler, albeit an easily sidetracked one. That's where his companion comes in - a large, quiet, and wise Manticore named Yasmine. Yasmine and Shiro had met on the road in the Ashfall Wastes, both going the same direction. As they traveled alongside eachother, the two became quick friends - and Yasmine quickly came to understand just how much of a danger to himself Shiro could be; running off at whatever little thing caught his eye.
Instead of parting though, when they reached their destinations - Yasmine decided to continue alongside Shiro, to see where their travels may take her. She regards Shiro almost like one of her own cubs - and is oftentimes who reminds him to take care of himself, and keeps him out of trouble. Shiro, in turn, regards Yasmine like a mother figure of sorts - someone he can trust and relax around, even with his weakest moments. It isn't uncommon to see her carrying Shiro on her back, when he's having a bout of fatigue, or has otherwise exhausted or hurt himself. She, additionally, is highly protective - unafraid to use her claws, fangs, or stinger to protect him.
