Orion is an older member of Ridley’s clan, before they brought in a few knights Orion had to serve as a mercenary and assist Zevran in protecting the clan grounds. He is quick thinking, strong and incredibly wise for his age. He had no problem with this job however as not only was he paid for his services, but while he was patrolling the area at night he would at times see a dark pearlcatcher that he admired from afar. Since they only came out of hiding at night it was the only time he could see them, and he didn’t dare stay long or be unprofessional and try to speak to them until Zevran caught him watching them at work. The spiral pushed him into speaking with the pearlcatcher that he would come to know as Obsidian. He was still needed to protect the clan but while Zevran was training new knights Orion got to spend more time with Obsidian and he enjoyed their presence. They exchanged stories about their lives often and talked over the places that they had lived in or worked in for Orion’s case, he was mystified by all that they knew and they had only recently become a true dragon after being a statue for so long. However he knew he shouldn’t get too attached to them as he wasn’t a true member of the clan unlike them, when Zevran’s knights were fully trained they wouldn’t need to keep paying Orion and he would need to go again to find more work. But he didn’t wish to do that, and when his contract with Ridley was coming to a close he went to speak with them. It surprised him when Ridley allowed him to stay as a real member of the clan, but apparently it had gone over his head just how much he’d become everyone’s friend while staying there. He had been so focused on protecting everyone and on his feelings for Obsidian, that he hadn’t even noticed how no one else was fond of the idea of him leaving again either. So he didn’t, he stayed and would even admit to Obsidian how much he cared for them and was ever so happy to be accepted by the night-watcher. While his services aren’t always needed anymore whenever the clan needs an extra defence he’s ready to go anytime, and even while they don’t he protects his mate with all that he has.
