Tibia

Like her older brother Rib, Tibia grew up in a clan that had a ritual they put every newborn dragon through. The ritual was drawn-out, painful and traumatizing and few survived it. That was the point. Survival. Those who did were deemed strong and worthy of living.

However, Tibia's mother was losing her faith in it all and after seeing how Rib had turned out, she decided she couldn't let it happen to Tibia as well and so she fled with her daughter. Unfortunately, she was caught and brought back, but she was able to hide Tibia before that.

Sadly for Tibia, fate arguably had something worse in store for her.

When she first saw the spirit she thought she must be hallucinating, but it didn't let up. The spirit began to stalk her, showing up wherever she was, never slowing down no matter how far she ran or flew. It terrorized her every waking hour and when she tried to sleep it haunted her dreams too. Terrified, exhausted and at her wits' end she asked the spirit what it wanted from her.

It didn't speak to her using words, but rather, it put images in her head of what she had to do. She was horrified. It wanted her to find nine hatchlings and to sacrifice them. Initially, she refused, but as the weeks grew into months, Tibia's sanity began to fray at the edges. Finally she couldn't take it anymore and agreed to the spirit's demands.

She began stealing eggs from unguarded nests and once she had enough, she waited for them all to hatch and then, as the spirit had instructed, she sacrificed them in pairs of tree while uttering incantations over them. Once the ritual was complete, Tibia felt a moment of relief as she believed that the spirit would now leave her alone. Unfortunately that's not what happened. Rather, the ritual had made it possible for the spirit to take control over Tibia's mind and body. Now she will never be without it, not for as long as she lives...

It was pure coincidence that she stumbled upon the Clan of the Uncanny Valley who was now being lead by her brother, but after being welcomed into the clan she ended up staying. Rib was fascinated by the spirit inhabiting his sister and gave her a position by his side as a sort of second-in-command. The spirit was pleased by this outcome, though what little remains of Tibia herself is not so sure. Not much she can do about it, though.
