Biography

To the light he was given
To the darkness he remains
Torn between two different lies
Caught and bound in chains

None could hope to stop him
he was discovered much too late
sticks and stones may break their bones
But his betrayal spelled their fate

Imperium
"."

- Imperium and Imperia are siblings (different nests? Or the same nest, just vastly spread out by hatch date?)
- Rycaron is also related to Imperium and Imperia (Either older or younger brother to Imperium; either way he's older than Imperia)
- Alloy is related to the trio as well - half child perhaps? - conniving half child that tried to steal the throne? 0-0 or succeeded mayhaps?
- Imperia's bracelet and her eye scar must be involved
- 'Palace built on a thousand bones'
- Imperium hatched with light eyes, they turned dark after a loyalty spell was cast on him, which he failed with flying colors
- Imperium met with his half sister just after she hatched from an enchanted nest, but wiped her memory of the interaction save for the words "Imperia," and "Find me."
- I have no idea what else to put for Rycaron...I kinda forgot he existed for a minute there
- I almost forgot ROYALTY FOR THE WIN

All male dragons were illegible to rule the kingdom. Everyone knew this, everyone accepted it. Imperium couldn't care less- the throne wasn't something that he desired.

Males weren't important in their kingdom; it was the females that led. The males held a title, and were treated much like the rest of the court, but they could never gain the throne and everyone made sure they knew that. This didn't bother Imperium much, since he had never wanted the throne to begin with, but Alloy seemed bent on bringing his parents, and him along with them, into the nonsense that the Court had left in their wake. Alloy had one agenda, his parents had another. He could sense that their paths diverged when the shouts filled his ears

I was leaning that way as well. Semi-evil rulers typically don't have children, I've found xD Distant aunt it is :D Hmm...so if Alloy is queen, and she is the aunt to these three siblings, probably her....mother....would be related by blood to Alloy (in keeping with the female monarchy/hierarchy thing) SO. I'm thinking the kingdom has a strict no male ruler policy (put in place by Alloy so no one could steal her throne) and then she'd have to dispatch her sister somehow so that her sister couldn't just kill her and claim it, either. the sister's mate would be fine and dandy, as would Rycaron and Imperium. Perhaps it's possible to tell what gender an egg will hatch into, or Alloy could have had her mages tell her instead, so she'd allow the nest of her sister to hatch, save for Imperia's egg. That egg she would send away with the palace's most powerful mages, so that an enchanted nest could be constructed to prevent her from hatching. (Since Alloy wasn't so evil as to kill her sister's only female offspring)
...Okay actually having Ancora here might be useful xD
Anyway. So I'm thinking that sister and brother in law to Alloy had two nests- one was a one egg nest containing Imperium, the second contained Imperia and Rycaron. There would be a couple years between nests, enough so that when his mother died after laying a final clutch, he'd be smart enough to realize that it wasn't natural causes like the queen said it was and instead, there was a massive coverup. His father would know this too, but he'd be too concerned for the safety of his hatchlings to do anything about it (perhaps Alloy gave him her word that she'd leave the hatchlings alone as long as he didn't get in the way)
So eventually the final clutch would 'hatch' (Rycaron would hatch, Imperia would be shipped elsewhere to prevent her from hatching) and all the while Imperium would begin plotting against the queen. Rycaron would be Alloy's favorite, so he'd be brainwashed from the get-go, and Imperium would perform his princely is the wrong word but it's the only one I can think of royal duties and promptly fall off the face of the earth until the next day or hour or whenever he was needed again. Alloy wouldn't think anything of it, since he had always done that and it didn't bother her that he was never seen except when she needed him.
So eventually Alloy would catch wind of Imperium's plans, or rumors of them, at least. She'd send a couple of mages after him to check his loyalty, and after finding him and performing the spell, his eyes would turn shadow-colored (a sign of his betrayal) and he'd kill them all so they couldn't tell the queen what they had seen. Word would reach her anyway and she'd send Requiem to destroy Imperium. (I can't decide if I want Requiem to have a little bit of a personality and attachment to Imperium from a flaw in the spell that was used to create him or not) so depending on which road I go, Requiem would either find him and refuse to kill him, or Requiem wouldn't catch him in time and the palace would fall. Alloy doesn't die, nor does Rycaron or Imperium, but everyone else perishes (including their father). (I'm leaving Requiem out of this since he wasn't alive to begin with, but just know he makes it out too) If Requiem doesn't have any personality, his orders are still to destroy Imperium, so he'd be forced to flee the wreckage and get as far away from Requiem as he possibly can. If he does, Alloy would rewrite the spells that gave Requiem life so that the personality disappeared, and he'd hunt for Imperium again (though imperium would be smart enough to know that Requiem wouldn't be merciful if they met again). Imperia would be jostled out of her enchanted nest, which would cause her to hatch a few years later (since the magic preventing her from maturing needed to wear off before she could hatch).
By this time, Requiem was still hunting for Imperium, Alloy and Rycaron would be best buds (both viewed Imperium as a traitor) and Imperium would travel through the wreckage of the palace to find Imperia, since he had sensed that she finally hatched through some awesome sibling connection (That Rycaron didn't possess, even though he came from the same clutch as Imperia and Imperium didn't). They'd meet, Imperium would wipe her mind of everything except for the name he knew her father wanted her to have and "Find me," and then he'd steer her in the direction of Alloy and Rycaron, whom he knew would look after her better than he could (since he was still being chased by Requiem and Alloy wouldn't squander the chance to brainwash another of Imperium's siblings). Eventually she'd become curious enough to leave Alloy and Rycaron (she'd probably have to sneak away) and she'd begin trying to figure out who had spoken to her when she first hatched. Just imagine what their first encounter was like, if Imperia was fed lies about Imperium all her life! So anyway, what do you think? :0

Imperium hatched as the sole heir to one of the wealthiest kingdoms in light territory. He was spoiled beyond belief by his parents, a benevolent king and queen that had wanted a clutch since they took the throne. Out of three, he was the lone survivor- either the king or queen, perhaps even both of them, possessed a genetic flaw that made their eggs unable to mature properly. It was a miracle he had survived at all.

The darkness whispered to him from the very moment he hatched. He was worthless, it said. An outcast, a traitor. It accused him of even being alive, so that even when he was at his happiest, he felt as if he were drowning in a sea of crushing guilt, sinking below the waves. He hid the voices from his parents, and bottled up the regret he felt at having hatched. He buried it beneath layers and layers of other, better emotions- the things he felt when he was spending time with his parents, hiding in the silk tapestries that lined the walls or sliding down the massive rails beside each stairwell. For a time, he even forgot about them- he had hidden them away so completely, not even an echo reached the surface. Then the king and queen decided to attempt to expand their family- and the guilt returned once more.

With each failed clutch, the voices gripped him tighter, their stranglehold quenching his light and replacing it with darkness. Only his parents kept him from falling into the void- teetering on the brink of light and darkness, only they prevented him from slipping away.

When they died, despair entered his heart and soul, engulfing his very being. Whatever it wanted him to do, he did. He wasn't king- He had managed to vigorously refuse it before his will to fight left him- but being the only heir gave him privileges that he later exploited.

By the time anyone realized that something had happened to him, it was too late to stop what he had already set in motion. The mages of the kingdom had cornered him, cast an enchantment to test his loyalties. He failed, so horribly that his eyes turned violet with the shadows that consumed him, and he dispatched each mage as if they were stalks of grass swaying in the breeze. It didn't matter, though- now everyone knew how traitorous he had been all along.

_______________

The castle walls crumbled, the palace was charred, filled with smoke and ash. The broken remains of the kingdom and its civilians littered the ground and floor, so completely annihilated that only bone remained. When he stormed into the nursery, every nest was overturned, their contents tossed aside and broken. Every nest was destroyed, until he came upon the nest containing the last clutch from his parents- a single egg lay within it.

The voices told him to destroy it, to bathe it in fire and ensure that nothing remained, yet he hesitated. He put a claw to the egg, trying to find a heartbeat, any sign that whatever was in there was still alive. He felt the shell flex against his outstretched talon, and a dozen voices inside him shrieked NO! The shadows built up in his mind, trying to pressure him into submission, but he wouldn't let the darkness snuff out the innocent life that lay before him. He buried the nest under mountains of rubble, cast dozens of enchantments to ensure he couldn't ever find it or harm it. He ensured the egg would only hatch when he was far, far away, when the heat of the palace's destruction had vanished and the hatchling's presence would remain anonymous. Only then did he submit, when he knew the voices in his head couldn't undo what he had done.
______________________

Centuries later, a strange sensation overtook him. It dimmed the constant turmoil in his head and brought with it memories of the times he had spent with his parents, when the dark was but a distant memory. Only then did he realize the egg must have hatched. He remembered not where he had hidden the hatchling, but he knew he must find it, and make sure it was alright.

Against the wishes of the demons in his thoughts, he went searching for the hatchling, following a strange sensation akin to being pulled to a place he didn't recall ever going to.

Then he found her. How innocent she was, so fragile. His thoughts told him to destroy her while he had the chance, but he adamantly refused, instead watching her small form as she wandered, chirping for her mother like a lost bird. Slowly, he approached. She hid from him; perhaps she could sense his troubled mind. Conflicting emotions brushed together in a cacophony of confusing thoughts- anger, happiness, hatred, love, fear, hope. He held out a talon to her, holding as still as he could. She crawled up to him, laying her small claws over his own. His eyes turned light, the swirling darkness dissipating for only a moment as grief welled up in his heart. He knew he wouldn't be able to stay by her side, as much as he wanted to. Instead, he gently raked a talon across her eye, earning a startled yelp of pain from his younger sister. His doing so would ensure that he could keep an eye on her, even when he was a continent away. He whispered to her, chanting a spell to make her forget him. She would be better off if she couldn't remember this interaction between them. "Imperia." He whispered, nuzzling her. "Find me."

~~~~~~~~ Do not -I repeat- Do NOT read past this I'm looking at you Auraea xD It's just not done that's the only reason lol ~~~~~~~~~~
How the kingdom came to be was not a pleasant story to hear. In fact it was forbidden to speak of it, so filled with violence and dark magic it was. Imperium learned of it by chance- he was far too curious for his own good- so when he heard the royal staff whispering about it behind closed doors, he settled down on the other side of the door and leaned in to hear.
After some useless banter between those in the room, Imperium heard them talking about the founder of their kingdom- a dragon named Imperium. They said he had shadow eyes, but Imperium knew this was wrong. How could he? The entire kingdom was fashioned after their founder, who possessed light eyes. Their kingdom wasn't bedecked with gold for nothing. Despite his incredulity, he kept listening.
Everyone knew the story of how the kingdom had been established. The founder was a dragon named Imperium, whose lust for control drove him into slaying hundreds of innocents. It shouldn't have been possible for him to win; no single dragon was capable of annihilating an army on their own, no matter how strong or fierce they may be.
The kingdom's founder was a dragon named Imperium. He was a tyrant- he took the throne using force and fear Once he ascended the throne, he made the grievous mistake of angering a witch
