Mirror dragons who are alone by choice are an anomaly, and Periwinkle was no anomaly. She was young, and couldn't keep up with her clan as they hunted around the Mirrorlight Promenade in the Sunbeam Ruins. Out of sight became out of reach, and out of reach became hopelessly lost and wandering and desperate.

She ran and ran, but could not find them. The land around her became dismal and dark as she entered the Tangled Woods. By sheer fortune, the adolescent Netherwind was out flying at the time, and gladly guided the light hatchling - cold, hungry and tired - back to the clan. She could not help but be skittish, surrounded by these shadow dragons, but Selriona's gargantuan wings blocked out the hooting animals outside, and Madock's healing magic soothed away the scrapes and cuts she'd accumulated. Maybe staying here won't be so bad.
Periwinkle has long ago recovered, but she never returned to her own clan. For starters nobody knows where they exactly are, and second she's at home with her new clan. There aren't many mirrors, but her own hatchlings are more than enough. She bounces off the walls when cooped up, so more often than not she's outside the lair, hunting down the Driftwood Drag's prey with a viciousness that borders on vengeance. She can't help but feel out of place, despite her mate's many - too many - reassurances; a light dragon among shadows. She regularly prays and offers sacrifices of her food to Shadowbinder, in hopes of proving her allegiance.
What is she doing here? She doesn't belong here! The woods are dark and eerie, the permanent mist and hooting animals raising terrible hatchlinghood memories of being lost and scared and hunted. Her night vision is terrible and while she can get by using her thermal vision, it can't hope to match what shadow dragons have.

She's the problem. She's the problem she's the problem she's the problem. She needs to change. She needs to become one with the surrounding darkness. She needs to kill her light.
