It is generally considered foolhardy to mix medicines in the dark, but in Saa's case, perhaps an exception can perhaps be made. She's an expert at navigating without her sight thanks to an incident in her youth that blinded her. At the time, she was pressing flowers for oils to help with her mother's mechanical duties in the clan. Shifting her weight the wrong way against the press, though, was her undoing, and the oil splashed into her eyes, completely ruining her sight in one, and greatly limiting it in the other. She spent weeks in the care of local healers who tried to repair the damage done by the oils, but to no avail. One eye could not help her, and the other had only the barest function, blurring the world.

After that, Saa taught herself to explore the world with her other senses, cultivating a keen sense for both touch and scent that allowed her to identify unknown objects around her. For a while, she had a guide Hainu to help her, but eventually, he passed, leaving her to her own devices once again.

Since then, Saa has busied herself with medicine. With some support from her parents, she keeps to the darkness of her shop and mixes potions and poultices with various effects. Some recipes are common remedies, known by all, and others are home brews, concoctions created and tested by Saa herself with all the care in the world. She refuses to sell anything until she knows exactly what its side effects may be, so as to avoid harming anyone, and those in dire need receive her services at discounted rates.

Ultimately, her goal is to discover a concoction that will ease ocular injuries. She has accepted that it is probably too late to heal herself, but the possibility that she could help someone else spurs her forward.
