His father was a Coatl, his mother a Spiral but he was named after a Tundra. When he was shown the portrait of his namesake, he was honored but also unsure. That dragon was impressive, so regal and mature. He felt awkward and alone and wished he had been hatched a Tundra. His father Delune ('of the moon') was so handsome - he felt so small beside him. His mother was of Arcane origin, magical and mysterious under the moons of Sornieth. He was so confused - he so admired his father but felt something was wrong even though he was the first born son of his parents and sported butterfly wings.

"Seek your own path, my son." She smiled, knowing that his truth was to seek the clan that honored the moon in the Shadows. Her son would find his truth, but he needed to find it as himself and learn his own peace. After all, he was special - hatched during the total eclipse of the sun. She was not worried - she knew he would shine. Or shimmer, actually. He flew toward the river as the sky darkened, drawn toward the coolness of the water. He noticed some large white flowers opening. Perhaps there would be insects to eat. Yes, several tiny nectar eaters provided a meal, although they tasted a bit odd. Perhaps the nectar of the flowers was different from what he was used to eating. Oddly, his wings started to itch. |

"What's wrong?" she asked.
"Oh nothing - I didn't see you there and here I am just enjoying watching ... err ... these bugs. They are swimming across my reflection and I look odd - different from what I expected to see."

"I saw you blush. My name is Shadymum and I am an Alchemist of the Moonlit Nyyt Weyr of Emberglo. I see ... permit me. We have room for you here and ... actually, we've been expecting you. Bewitching told our Matriarch Wyldyrn that you were on the way." "I was? I don't understand." Shadymum laughed - "Well, let me clarify. Bewitching told our Matriarch that a young changling would soon hatch, fly here and petition to stay, to find a home and a purpose in our weyr." Shadymum gestured behind her. "Come with me. She and Chandra want to meet you." She laughed again. "And you can watch the bugs here any time you wish - this is, after all, our Emberglo land." |

 Tohidu followed her closely to find his new life. Maybe now, with his new shimmer wings that so resembled the flowers he had been admiring, he would find the peace within and learn his purpose. He is a member of the sub-species Moonlit Night. He named his familiar Syzygy which is the term for when the Sun, Sornieth, and one of the moons line up perfectly for an eclipse to occur, in honor of the day he was born. |
