No one knows who was the so-called patient zero of the plague. It simply struck without warning, infecting several dragons before anyone even knew it was a problem to be wary of. Oriana, Jemisha's mate, was one of the first to fall ill. It wasn't entirely unexpected that she would fall ill as she had always had a weakened imune system. However, it didn't help Jemisha be any less rattled by it. Of course, she nor anyone else had ever expected anything like a plague to arrive. Cloud was Jemisha's only source of comfort, but Cloud also served as a painful reminder that Oriana wasn't there. After all, Cloud was Oriana's animated plushie, a gift Jemisha had given her beloved mate. |

Additionally, Cloud's naivety and inability to understand the emotions Jemisha was feeling served as a source of frustration. Jemisha wanted the comfort that Cloud and the company of another creature provided during the isolation but also wanted to isolate herself from everything, especially anything reminding her of how her mate wasn't there to keep her company. Every day, when she woke up to an empty den, she couldn't help a wave of overwhelming sorrow. Her heart felt heavy and weighed her down. Exhausted gripped her tightly and refused to let her go, leading her to spend most of her time sleeping. Cloud - sweet, innocent, naive Cloud - made sure she ate and met her basic needs but was unable to do much more. Jemisha herself didn't know what else could be done to help her. When deaths began being reported, with Oriana as the first, Jemisha lost hope entirely. There was a temptation to even let herself catch the plague so that she would not have to be away from her beloved mate. However, she was reminded of Cloud and realised that it would not be right to leave her alone in the world. After all, Jemisha had made herself responsible for the animated plushie when she comissioned Schatten to help bring her to life. How could she just abandon her? So, Jemisha forced herself to continue on despite the mourning she felt would never end. When the plague was declared over and lines were drawn, she went with Acal as Lord Iceflame had named him sucessor long before Jemisha had even joined the clan. She fired up her forge to once again continue her work. However, she had now sworn off creating weapons of any sort as she refuses to add to any sort of death toll. |
