Truffle

A letter to a sister.

Sister lovely,

You know full well I'm due! You've been Truffle for ages and it isn't fair of you to hog her. We agreed that we'd each get a turn.

Wasn't it funny how angry Enyo got when all the ink slithered out of her pots? She forgot who she was messing with when she tried to name us straight.

Aren't you tired yet of these stuffy know everythings? It's probably because I'm still Trifle that they annoy me so much. But I know they annoy you too. Sometimes I wish it was just us again. Then I remember how you hog everything and I don't mind the extra company.

You don't have to write back. If you want, you can just shout at me across the way.

Truffle of the witches nine.

Trifle and Truffle joined the clan during the arduous journey from the Gladekeeper's green forests to the ash-burnt woods of the Flamecaller. Why they joined the clan, even they won't say. Plague-born and peculiarly minded, they kept to themselves for long months till they announced, together, that they would be happy to stay. As members of the witches nine, Truffle and Trifle may weigh in on the mystical matters of the clan. Although they are not leaders, each sister has a modicum of legal power.

Truffle seems to be the more level-headed of the two but she's also hideously bossy. Even so the other witches prefer her to Trifle, who plays jokes that aren't always kind. As for Truffle, she likes the clan, and she enjoys the respect afforded her as a Witch. Company, she is finding, is not always unwanted. Given the opportunity to make a name for herself as herself, Truffle is blooming.
