Biography

Warning: graphic lore

When she was born, Alexis was a bumbling, clumsy hatchling. Her family loved her despite her differences, catching her whenever she fell and laughing at her goofy happy-go-lucky grin.

That was, until she woke up to find her family dead.

From that day onward, Alexis found that everyone around her died. It wasn't simply them dying in their sleep and it wasn't just those who slept nearby her - it looked as though everyone within a radius of a few miles of her was hunted down and brutally ripped to shreds by the time she awoke, rising from the forest floor where she had laid to rest and finding the earth beneath her pooled with blood that was not her own.

Terrified as any young hatchling would be in this situation, Alexis ran. She tried her hardest to find the most secluded spaces in Sornieth, convinced that something was following her. One night, she woke in the middle of a camp in the middle of Light territory to the squishy flop of a lung falling from a corpse into a puddle of blood stemming from where the corpse - or at least what was left of it - was hung in the tree. Jumping to her feet in alarm, as she woke most mornings, she saw a massive imperial standing a few meters away. His gaze was as firey as the scales that adorned his body, searing their way into her heart.

"Wh-Who're you?" she inquired, her voice shaky.

"I am Tyler," the young imperial stated. "I help find hatchlings who look to be in need of a home and take them back to the Melohn. You will come with me and learn our ways. Maybe one day you can prove yourself worthy of Arenji. Until then..." He looked around at the massacere that surrounded him with an eerie lack of interest. "We can help you with your little 'problem'."

Alexis returned to the camp. The whole way there she told Tyler all about her fears, how it seemed like she was followed by some beast that wanted to kill everything she loves. A little ways from camp, he paused, a thoughtful look on his face.

"What is it Tyler?" Alexis inquired.

"I am going to try something," he stated, then changed his direction and started walking East. Alexis rushed after him, struggling to keep up with his long, purposeful strides. "You're going to sleep here tonight," he stated, nonchalantly noting the wave of fear across her face. "It's okay. Trust me." Hesitantly, the little hatchling nodded. Tyler reached into his bag and pulled out bandages. He began to wrap them around her body. When she started to ask him what he was doing, he cut her off. "Don't ask questions," he stated before turning and walking away into the undergrowth, leaving the little hatchling to the setting sun.

When she awoke, Alexis immediatly looked at the bandages. To her surprise, they were covered in blood. She shrieked and started clawing at them, trying to yank them off, but her small arms were too thin and weak to manage yanking the strong fabric apart.

"So I was right," came the low rumble of Tyler's voice as he emerged from the brush. "You aren't being followed by a monster - you are a monster." He walked up to the shuddering hatchling, gazing down at the look of horror on her face as it dawned on her that she was the one who had been savagely murdering the dragons that surrounded her.

"I-If... If it comes out when I sleep I just won't sleep, then!" She raised her head defiantly, but her bravery was betrayed by the quivering of her lip. Tyler eyed her, but then nodded.

Try she did to hold back the wave of sleep that threatened to overcome her. Minutes turned into hours which then turned into days without sleeping. Bags formed beneath her eyes and she walked with a bit of a stumble. Occasionally she would black out, coming to when she was within inches of finishing off a victim. The sight of a dragon cowering beneath her, flanks stained red with their own blood as they cringed in terror, many trying to hold their internal organs in as she raised her claw to finish them off drove her to try and stay awake, too keep going. It was a while before she realized that this insomnia was changing her. The lack of sleep was slowly driving her insane, and she could feel the beast inside of her pushing forward through her sleep deprivation, attempting to gain control.

She thought she could fight it.

She thought she could win.

She was wrong.

It was unclear just when it happened. She could remember walking through the woods when she felt It surge, the beast inside of her hungry for blood. But this time it was different. This time she was too exhausted to fight it - instead she gave her body over and it carried her onward. She could see the trees fly by her, feel her muscles move with renewed strength as she followed her suddenly keen sense of smell toward something that smelled absolutely delicious. The time became a blur as she rushed from dragon to dragon, ripping them to shreds. In a daze she ran after those who had fled with a speed she had never encountered before, tracking them down. And she could feel It's glee at how wonderful it felt to watch their blood spill out, to toy with the last few fleeing victims before finally bringing them to their gruesome end.

She felt how amazing it was to kill. She realized how nice it felt to slowly tear a body apart. Feeling renewed, she returned to Tyler, finding the Melohn with ease by tracking his scent. When she walked into camp, she was surprised to find that few dragons gave her strange looks, despite her being covered in blood. Instead Tyler walked up to her, grinning with his sharp, stained teeth.

"Welcome... It, to the new and reborn Melohn...my clan."
